I'm actually excited about The L Word's return on Sunday, January 8 at 10pm. If you visit the site, you can peek at three scenes from the third season's premier episode:
1. Alice on Radio 2. First Impressions 3. Tarot Cards

Right-winger Cliff Kincaid thinks homosexuality is addictive, and apparently, school officials at a Lutheran school in California might be in agreement. Two girls accussed of lesbianism were expelled from school even though "officials had not seen any physical contact between the girls." The girls are now suing the school.
The lawsuit alleges school principal, Gregory Bock, called the girls into his office and reamed them on their alleged sexual orientation and “coerced” one girl into saying she loved the other.
The following day, he told the girls they could not remain in the school harboring “those feelings.”
Here's where I give props to the military (**gasp**). At least the military requires proof of a service member's homosexual orienation before they dismiss people from service.
I know my anti-religion readers -- particularly those who don't understand why homosexuals would have anything to do with religion -- will wonder why these girls even want to return to their Lutheran school. Personally, I wouldn't return. I would just sue them, take the money, and enjoy life someplace else. And everytime I bought myself a lovely new gift with the school's money, I'd send the dumb bastards a thank-you card.

I had to click on this article when I saw it. I've gotten so used to SPAM that I just redirect it to a SPAM folder and hit Delete All when my SPAM folder is full. Gmail even offers a bit of SPAM entertainment, providing great SPAM recipes at the top of the page so you wonder what items like Ginger Spam Salad and Spam Breakfast Burritos taste like while you hit the delete key.
According to AOL, Donald Trump and penis patch were the most popular SPAM subject lines of 2005. Now, if you're not an AOL-groupie, you probably received more phishing emails designed to steal your identity than emails about Donald Trump and penis patches. Another popular item in my SPAM folder had software subject lines and porn subject lines -- something like "Dad and daughter do it a million ways."
Personally, I'm thinking SPAM is designed more for those kids who are allowed unsupervised time on the computer while checking their email. Would a full-grown adult click on a link about a man doin' his daughter? Don't answer that.
By the way, what's a penis patch? I could look it up, but I can't wait to see what my readers say.
"It teaches children that ... they're for sale," says Gary Ruskin, executive director of the consumer group Commercial Alert. "They're just a bunch of sardines packed in a bus being sold to an advertiser."
I'd like to bitch slap that idiot. I live in a school district where there are no school buses and children either walk, bike, get a ride from a parent (or neighbor), or ride public transportation to school. When I learned the school would no longer provide bus service to my children, I couldn't believe it. "We can't afford buses," I was told. For a single parent -- like myself -- to have to rearrange my work schedule so that I can bus my own children to and from school, I would welcome an idea like this in my district if the money would be used to fund necessary services and activities. It's not always easy to say to a customer that I have to leave in the middle of a deal to pick my kids up from school. It's just as hard to race against time to get two kids picked up from two different schools, then get my ass back to the office to finish up the deal I started.
But, let's see, I suppose the idiot who's against placing ads on school buses can head to Wisconsin and chauffeur my kids around for me. That's a much better idea. I wonder if the same idiot has decided to ban all Saturday morning cartoons on network television -- since they're all sponsored by one advertiser or another and very few of those advertising dollars are being funneled into any public schools that I know of. If I were a stay-at-home soccer Mom whose whole life revolved around my husband and my children, I might be against placing ads on school buses; I would have to find something to be pissed off about!
Here's another idea: states should raise property taxes so there's no need to place advertising on school buses. Wait. What am I thinking? That's a bad idea since the same idiot who's against placing ads on school buses would be against raising property taxes, too.
Let's see, we could always ditch that stupid war in Iraq and funnel that money into schools, but that idea's just as dumb as placing ads on school buses, right?
But a recent investigation has uncovered a ghoulish side to Bruno's death. Authorities believe his body and those of hundreds of other people _ including famed British broadcaster Alistair Cooke _ were secretly carved up in the back rooms of several funeral parlors citywide to remove human bone, skin and tendons without their families' permission. Authorities allege the body parts were then sold for a profit.
Worse, health officials fear some of the stolen body parts were diseased, and could infect patients who received them in skin grafts, dental implants or other orthopedic procedures _ a risk concealed by paperwork doctored with forged signatures and false information.
I realize times are hard and money is tight, but was this really necessary? That's just sick and wrong!
I have an idea. Let's see if we can find a way to blame this on GW Bush. Ha!
It's the holiday season so I've been busy with so many other things. Sorry for the sporatic postings, everyone. I'll have my groove back shortly. In the meantime, happy holidays, happy hanukkah, happy kwanzaa, and merry christmas to everyone.

Voters in Massachusetts have broken a 20-year record for gathering certified signatures on a petition that supports placing a question about gay marriage on the next ballot. Now, let's reflect on that for just a bit.
Of all the things going on in that state -- like, oh, priests sexually abusing little boys, domestic violence, and child abuse -- it took an issue like 2 adult American citizens wanting to legally marry to motivate the fine citizens of MA to get their asses in gear and DO SOMETHING.
I don't know about the rest of ya, but I think everybody who signed that petition ought to go crawl under a rock somewhere.

This news from Yahoo News/Reuters must be driving neo-Nazi conservatives a bit insane:
As Hollywood starts its annual awards season leading to the March 5 Oscars, key front-runners in main categories are either gay-themed or political films, with Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain," a drama of love between cowboys, leading the pack in the all-important best picture race.
Some will argue the Oscars is always a bit "gay." I might have to agree; however, this isn't the same as watching a bunch of queer-producers and closeted actors accept awards for bringing gay actors to life on the big screen. Oh wait -- yes it is!
Seriously though, it's nice to see Ang Lee's movie about handsome, macho, gay cowboys gettin' the props it deserves. Regardless of the hoopla Lee's film is receiving, I still think the big talk about the Oscars will be who's hosting it -- especially since was so controversal. I kinda hope they choose Dave Chapelle this year. I'm so serious! How's that for pissin' off even more homos?
Pryor died of a heart attack at his home in the San Fernando Valley sometime late Friday or early Saturday, Flyn Pryor said. He had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous system.
When I was a kid, my mother used to watch anything and everything related to Richard Pryor. His stand-up used to make all the grown-ups in my family laugh and say, "I know that's right," in unison. For many in my family, Richard Pryor was king -- behind James Brown, Al Green, and Barry White. As of this posting, the official Richard Pryor website is unavailable -- most likely it's due to bandwidth issues.
I've seen many bloggers claim that Richard Pryor would've been bothered by Chris Rock's use of the word "nigger" and his overuse of expletives. I doubt that. Pryor's standup routines took many jabs at racism and classism; I doubt very seriously he would fault the creative process Rock uses to do exactly the same thing. I also remember many people being bothered by Richard Pryor back when he was constantly throwing the truth in their face. Those same people are now using him to set a standard for other Black comedians. Some things never change, eh?

I received an email from the Center for Individual Freedom that read like something only a paranoid nutcase would write. Try not to laugh at all the "donation" links all over the page. The full text of the email isn't on the website, but you can read it here.
Some highlights:
Remind them that since 9/11 our intelligence forces have headed off a number of major plots to attack Americans on U.S. soil. Tell them you don't want the rules changed. If we do not defeat the McCain amendment, we'll play right into the hands of the most brutal and fanatic enemy America has ever faced.
Umm, what major plots on American soil? The only major attack I know of is the one in Iraq -- and we happen to be the perpetrators in that case.
And this one is just too funny:
Make no mistake: Right now, terrorist are plotting to kill women and children all over the globe -- as well as launching sneak attacks on our troops -- and we're supposed to walk on egg shells when we try to find out which Americans they intend to kill next?
Oh no! Not the women and children! trying hard not to laugh. That's a classic move. Make us worry about American women and children while we kill Iraqi women and children on a regular basis. Sweeeeet.
Ya know, I agree. I think we should be allowed to torture suspected terrorists and enemies of the state. This would allow other countries to torture American prisoners. It's only fair, right?
Conservative Native American Law Professor Faked Hate

See, since I know good ol' La Shawn Barber won't point out this fake hate (like she enjoys pointing out liberals who fake hate), I feel it's my duty to do so:
Wiliam C. Bradford, Native American professor of Law at Indiana University, claimed he was denied tenure by "liberals disliked him because he was an Army veteran and supported the Iraq war." He lied. He was never a war veteran. He was in the Army reserves from Sept. 30, 1995, to Oct 23, 2001 -- never served a day of active duty and never saw a war. Television war movies don't count, buddy!
Well, since he couldn't claim racial discrimination without appearing too liberal-like, he decided to claim he was hated because he was a Conservative Native American. Now, I wonder if this guy is as dumb as W. Didn't he think people would start snooping and find out he lied about his military service?
And what's with the privileged suddenly acting like the world is out to get them just because they don't get treated like the privileged?
Voting Rights Act Violated in Texas, Compliments of DeLay

I don't even flinch anymore when I read about government corruption. I've become desensitized, I suppose.
Aaron sent me the article Justice Staff Saw Texas Districting As Illegal and my blood pressure didn't rise a bit. DeLay and his Republican cronies have been cheatin' to win elections for some time now, but let a liberal point that out and Conservatives tell us we're paranoid cry babies. Changing districts so the vote lands the way you want it to -- that's classic GOP-style maneuvering (and illegal as all hell).
Justice Department lawyers concluded that the landmark Texas congressional redistricting plan spearheaded by Rep. Tom DeLay (R) violated the Voting Rights Act, according to a previously undisclosed memo obtained by The Washington Post. But senior officials overruled them and approved the plan.
The memo, unanimously endorsed by six lawyers and two analysts in the department's voting section, said the redistricting plan illegally diluted black and Hispanic voting power in two congressional districts. It also said the plan eliminated several other districts in which minorities had a substantial, though not necessarily decisive, influence in elections.
"The State of Texas has not met its burden in showing that the proposed congressional redistricting plan does not have a discriminatory effect," the memo concluded.
Geezus, all these guys need are white sheets and cone-shaped hoods, eh?

Ok, since there was much yappin' last year from the Conservatives about liberals hijackin' baby Jesus and turnin' Christmas into the work of the devil, I feel it's my duty as a leftist to start the official attack on Christmas 2005.
It's not "Merry Christmas," ya rat bastards. It's Happy Holidays! **snicker**
AlterNet has started dreamin' of a red Christmas. I can't wait to see where that conversation goes.
