2. fucked up Catholic priests who sexually abuse little boys (Ya might wanna start aborting male children born in Catholic families before they ever have the chance to become priests!)

I thought this was a good subject. We've bounced it around before, but I thought it was worth revisiting after I saw a small item on it at Alternet:
Should gay politicians who oppose gay rights be outed? [source: The Gay Question]
I say out the bastards. I would out a preacher who beat his wife, ran around with prostitutes, and had sex with children. I would out a Black politician who worked diligently to oppose equal rights for Blacks. I would out a Black person who rode around with the KKK showing them all the best places to find niggers and Jews.
See where I'm going? I don't think we're "stopping to their level" when we out them. I think we're forcing them to be real with the people. If you're going to be a gay politician who opposes gay rights, say it. I mean damn, at least be brave enough to tell the world you're a sell out!
Only "healthy and civilized news and information that is beneficial to the improvement of the quality of the nation, beneficial to its economic development and conducive to social progress" will be allowed, Xinhua said.
"The sites are prohibited from spreading news and information that goes against state security and public interest," it added.
While the communist government encourages Internet use for education and business, it also blocks material it deems subversive or pornographic. Online dissidents who post items critical of the government, or those expressing opinions in chatrooms, are regularly arrested and charged under vaguely worded state security laws.
Who am I kidding? The US is moving to this kind of fascist governmenmt anyway. They don't need ideas from the Chinese.
Oh wait. Private institutions can do whatever they want to gay people as long as it's a GOOD thing (good being a relative term) and you agree with it. But when a private institution kicks a kid out of a private school because her parents are gay, all the homos are in an uproar.
About 2 years ago, I tried enrolling my children in Rock Country Christian school here in Beloit, WI. I was told by the administrator that my children would not be admitted because I am a homosexual. I later learned that my exhusband's attorney sits on that school's board. Now, I doubt the two are related, but that gives you an idea of the kind of people I have to deal with. When RCC has their rummage sales and fundraisers (pretty nice ones, actually), I won't spend a dime there anymore. I told all my friends and they told their friends and none of them will spend their money there either. That's the way it works. Oh well.
Sure, private institutions can do what they want, but they have to be prepared for the negative backlash.
ABC Network Accused of Fraud, Sued Over Extreme Makeover

Now this doesn't surprise me at all. Other than Fox News, the only other mainstream network -- news or otherwise -- that gives me major migraines is ABC.
First, ABC tried to stage a debate between the christians and the lesbians to boost ratings. Then, the network tried a wife swap that involved a lesbian couple and an interrracial, homophobic, "christian" couple from Texas (boy, that was a mouthful) to boost ratings. And now, we learn the network planned to subject Deleese Williams, a bipolar woman, to needless humiliation:
After a dental surgeon said he would have to break and reset her jaw for a successful "makeover," Williams said in her suit, producers told her they were dropping her because the recovery time wouldn't fit into their schedule. She got the news just hours before the surgery was to take place, according to the suit.
Williams' case began in December 2003 when she applied to "Extreme Makeover" and was selected to meet with producers in Los Angeles.
There, Williams was videotaped recounting the ridicule she suffered as a child and her years in an abusive marriage to an ex-husband. Her current husband and sisters were also interviewed and encouraged to make disparaging comments about her looks, the lawsuit says.
What next? A roundtable discussion between the KKK, the Black Conservatives, and the Log Cabin Republicans? I wonder how many similarities we'll see! Oh, that was naughty. I'll stop.

While watching LOGO tonight, I saw a brief CBS news clip about a young, white, male, gay student who came out to his parents in his senior year of college. His parents were angry and cut him off financially. This young man was attending a small private school (not cheap by any means). An organization called The Point Foundation came to his rescue and provided him with $40,000. When I heard that I damn near choked! I wasn't impressed, I was annoyed. Here's why:
My mama and daddy never gave me a dime for college -- and it wasn't because I'm gay, it's because they're poor. I had to find ways to pay for college -- including joining the military after high school so I could earn GI Bill benefits (like a lot of poor and Black students do). I then worked as an undergrad and I worked as a grad student. Now WHY did The Point Foundation give this gay boy $40,000 just because his parents wouldn't pay for his last year of college?
I guess I do have a problem with students receiving that kind of money for college -- just because they're gay -- especially when they have parents who have the means to pay for college (obviously, this was an expensive school), have established the tradition of college already, and have given them every opportuity to succeed. If you're going to come out and rock the boat when your parents are taking care of you and paying for college, you should be prepared to take care of yourself from that moment on.
Yeah, I do believe the baby conservative in me is rearing its ugly head. I'm just being honest with my readers and expressing my true feelings here. Besides, I'm not all about the PC stuff, ya know? There was nothing stopping that healthy young man from working his way through his last year of school.
Ever since the Katrina disaster began, I've been feeling a profound sense of loyalty to Blacks and a real resentment towards non-Black homosexuals. I can honestly say I've never felt this internal sense of separation before -- like one part of my identity is more important than the other. I'm really hoping it goes away soon because I could be here for weeks pointing out all the blatant racism in the LGBT community.
Oh yeah, check out the list of Point Scholars. Interesting, but not surprising, dynamics there. You'll notice another rich kid whose Daddy dumped her and refused to pay for college. Free rides for the rich kids!

The undershirt the white student wore had a confederate flag on the front with the words "Keep it flying." On the back, a cartoon depicted a group of hooded Klansmen standing outside a church, waving to two others who had just pulled away in a car reading "Just married."
Two black men in nooses were being dragged behind.
So do we have two gay Klansmen getting married and using Black men as their car decoration? Did anyone else notice how gay that is, or is it just me? Was that tshirt a stab at both homosexuals and Blacks? The tshirt certainly reminds me of the divide and conquer strategy the Right uses often to keep minority groups from working together to upset the status quo.
I lived in Jacksonville for about 4 years before I moved to WI. I have to say I was very shocked to see just how many rednecks are packed in that city. I contribute that to the large military population --military personnel from the south who want to stay as close to home as possible so they choose stations like Jacksonville, FL instead of Chicago, IL. Many of those military people settle in Jacksonville after they leave the military. So, what am I saying about some military personnel? By the way. . .
The white student, who is now enrolled at a community college, said he got the shirt about a week before the incident for $10 at a flea market. He said he typically took off his shirt on the way to the gym, and on that day he didn't think about what he wore underneath.
He said he put the shirt on in the morning because he planned to wear it to a party that night with others who, like him, had enlisted in the Marines.
Ding, ding, ding! Oh yeah, that's the kinda kid I want serving this great country and protecting all the people in it. Hand him a gun. Hurry!
Oh, take a look at the comment this gentleman (term used very loosely here) said in relation to superiority:
"I'm not racist or anything," he said. "It's just, some people I hate, some people I don't get along with. And black people just happen to be the ones because they think they're better than everyone else . . . . "
"I'm a redneck," he said. "But no, I'm not racist."
Silly little boy, we all know white people are better than everyone else. Right?

Well, as I thought he would, Governor Terminator vetoed CA's gay marriage bill. He insists the issue of gay marriage should be decided by the voters and not the Democrat-led assembly. Wonder if he would feel differently if the assembly was full of Republicans.
Anyway, let's run with that, shall we? I think all the red blooded Americans who wanna close our borders should decide whether folks like Arnold should be allowed to become President of the United States. Leave that decision to the voters too, eh?
Arnold can fuck over homosexuals all day everyday, he'll never kiss enough red blooded American ass to sit in the Oval office. Hell, you can't even get a redneck to drive an import, what makes Arnold think he'll be able to convince all those rednecks in the red states to hire an import to run the country?
7. If your blog has a personality, do you find it hard to blog about topics outside that personality?
Sometimes. Sometimes I don't blog about something because I'm afraid it'll hurt my readers feelings. I know only one persynally, but others I've created an online friendship with.
8. Name your most popular post ever. Why was it your most popular post?

One of the big discussions centered around women bloggers is that we (not sure if Niobium is female or not) are afraid of creating conflict with our blogs. I'm not, but that's the discussion.
Audre Lorde once said, and I paraphrase, we must all speak our truth the way we know it. For me, that means speaking my mind even if it pisses a few people off. That doesn't mean I'm insensititve; that doesn't mean that women who choose to avoid blogging about touchy subjects are weak. It simply means we do our thing in our own way.
There are over 250 entries to view. One thing I noticed is that so many people completely missed the point. Henry gaveexamples of what he wanted and didn't want and yet over 200 of the submissions look a lot like what he doesn't want. Umm, people, ya ain't gonna win. Just thought I'd say that.
I don't know why I'm cheerin' for the queers anyway. Most of the gay male bloggers in Blogads.com have shut out the lesbian bloggers, creating the Gay BlogAds network that's nothing but boys. I had to take it upon myself to create the Lesbian Blog Ad Network because the LGBT community is looking more and more like the G community minus the LBT.
Anyway, go. Go forth and submit your logo. Win that contest. Do it for me.

I just returned from a mandatory meeting at my oldest son's school. He joined the football team this year so all the athletes and their parents had to meet to discuss the rules. We also received a game schedule. Since they spend Wednesday nights with their father during the school year, the drive home after the meeting was the first chance I had to catch up with them about school on Wednesday and today. Typically our conversations go something like this:
Mom (that's me): How was school today? The boys: Fine. Mom: Just fine? The boys: Yeah. (you know how kids are. they get to a certain age and they don't talk to ya) Mom: Do you have any homework? The boys: No.
Today's conversation was a bit different. I noticed my youngest son had a new haircut.
Mom: Andrew, you look so handsome. Nice haircut. Andrew: Oh ma! It was so funny. Christopher : Yeah. Christy told Dad, "You can't come in this time. Stay outside." Mom: What are you talking about? Andrew: Yeah. (giggles) When we went to get my haircut, Christy made Dad sit outside this time because the barbershop was all-Black and he's white. Mom: Andrew, if Dad took Christy to an all white place and told her she had to sit outside because she's Black and the place was all white, how would Christy feel? Christopher : She would be pissed. Excuse my language, Ma. Mom: That's right, she would pissed. The boys: Yeah. Mom: Well what she did to him wasn't right and it wasn't funny; it was a racist gesture.
It's none of my business if my exhusband and his new wife have deep-rooted race issues; however, it becomes my business when those issues manifest themselves in front of my biracial children. My exhusband wants a Black wife who he can take home to his conservative, religious, white Mommy and Daddy -- but will be the biggest sexual stereotype you can imagine. I know, I was married to him. His new wife wants a white husband, as long as she doesn't have to take him to all-Black establishments.
I don't think people understand how these very subtle behaviors -- jokingly making your white spouse stay outside in the car when you enter an all-Black establishment -- do nothing more than continue the horrendous problems we have with racism in this country. My children saw nothing wrong with that behavior, when really, there's something terribly wrong with it.

At the Front of Nowhere at All The Perfect Storm and the Feral City By Tom Engelhardt
The headline was: "Direct hit in New Orleans could mean a modern Atlantis," and the first paragraph of the story read: "More than 1.2 million people in metropolitan New Orleans were warned to get out Tuesday as [the] 140-mph hurricane churned toward the Gulf Coast, threatening to submerge this below-sea-level city in what could be the most disastrous storm to hit in nearly 40 years." That was USA Today and the only catch was -- the piece had been written on September 14, 2004 as Hurricane Ivan seemed to be barreling toward New Orleans.
I commented at the time: "When ‘Ivan the Terrible' threatened New Orleans, correspondents there had a field day discussing whether the city might literally disappear beneath the waves -- this was referred to as the ‘Atlantis scenario.'" I was then trying to point out that we might indeed be entering a new, globally warmed world of Xtreme weather and no connections whatsoever were being made in the media. At the time, global warming, if discussed at all, was a captive of the far north (melting glaciers, unnerved Inuit, robins making miraculous appearances in Alaska), and "Atlantis scenarios" were the property of distant islands like the atolls that make up the tiny South Pacific nation of Tuvalu, threatened with abandonment due to rising ocean waters and ever fiercer, ever less seasonal storms And yet just short of a year ago, not only was it well known that New Orleans' levees weren't fit for a class 5 hurricane or that the Bush administration was slashing the budget of the Army Corps of Engineers, but the "Atlantis scenario" was already somewhere on the collective mind. Now, it has been upon us for almost a week.

I never thought I'd use the words "jerk off" in a title, but I find it strangely amusing.
I receive Felice Newman's -- author of Whole Lesbian Sex -- column via email. The latest column was a great read the first time around, but today's catchup column prompted me to post a bit of it here at SistersTalk.
When I read it the first time, I emailed it to a woman I've been talking to online for over 2 years. She was so proud of me, assuming I'm getting pointers for any future sexual encounters with her. Did I tell ya she's an arrogant ass at times quite often?
Anyway, I thought we could all use a brief moment of pleasure reading. Warning: this piece is not for you conservative losers who will just bitch, moan, groan, and complain about how lewd this column is. So don't read it, ya jackasses.
"Sometimes, while masturbating, I pretend that I am a man jerking off - for some reason, the power behind that really gets me off," one woman wrote to me. Not an uncommon fantasy for butch dykes and other genderbenders - but how do you get off stroking a hunk of rubber?
Pick a dildo whose appearance and texture you like. In this case, a fairly realistic dildo might be best - it's hard to fantasize you're a horny guy when your tool is a dolphin-shaped, lavender-swirled model. Realistic dildos come in a range of styles and materials. Thick or long, with or without balls, with delicately sculpted glans or heavy, ropy veins. Silicone, Cyberskin, rubber. An elastic harness might not work well for this - you want a tight, secure fit. Check out a leather harness.
Black and Hispanic Katrina Victims Refuse Shelter from Whites

I just read Andrea'supdate. It seems Black and Hispanic Katrina victims are refusing temporary shelter from white people:
The volunteers won't let you in the shelters, and many of the evacuees are quite content to stay at the shelters for now as they are offered some stability. In addition, there seems to be a racial issue where blacks and Hispanics aren't willing to go anywhere with whites. This, of course, doesn't apply to ALL, but it is the general consensus among survivors. SO, having said that, I humbly admit that perhaps it is best to go through an agency like the one mentioned above.
It really makes one wonder what's going on in New Orleans that victims of a devastating storm would refuse help from anyone -- regardless of that person's skin color. I'm certain this speaks to a much deeper issue of racism in New Orleans that isn't related completely to this storm.
Rice has spoken to members of the Congressional Black Caucus in recent days to reassure them the government was doing everything it could to help hurricane victims.
On Sunday, she attended a church service in Whistler, Alabama, and prayed alongside the congregation for victims of the hurricane.
Asked to say a few words from the pulpit, Rice, a preacher's daughter, said: "The Lord Jesus Christ is going to come on time." She added: "If we just wait."
Was this woman waiting for Jesus, too?
"The guy who runs this building I'm in. Emergency Management. He's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said, 'Are you coming. Son? Is somebody coming?' And he said, 'Yeah. Mama. Somebody's coming to get you.' Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. Somebody's coming to get you on Friday. And she drowned Friday night. And she drowned Friday night. Nobody's coming to get us. Nobody's coming to get us. The Secretary has promised. Everybody's promised. They've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. For god's sakes, just shut up and send us somebody."
-- Aaron Broussard, the President of Jefferson Parish on Meet The Press, 9/4/05
So, was Bush waiting for Jesus to get to New Orleans before he did? And well, what does Condi mean by on time? Does she mean Jesus Christ will show up just seconds before the good and worthy christians are all drowned? Was she reading a speech written by Bush himself when she made that comment, or is Bush's stupidity contagious?
My dear friend, Andrea Ratkovic is heading to Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and anyplace else she needs to go, to help get supplies delivered to Katrina victims. The Red Cross in Oklahoma has informed Andrea that they can not guarantee that donated items will reach Katrina victims, so Andrea said she'll deliver items herself! In addition, she and several of her friends are opening their homes to as many Katrina victims as they can.
Please, send Andrea any amount of money you can to help her get the supplies she needs. Her address is listed on her blog.
I ask that you spread the word about this throughout the blogosphere. Help Andrea deliver supplies -- or you can deliver supplies also.
Question 12. Do you maintain a blogroll? If you do, how do you go about choosing those bloggers for your blogroll?
Yes, I have a blog roll, but it's changed a lot from what it used to be. I've written the politics of linking and the "A-list". The result has been that I've removed most "A-list" blogs from my blogroll, on the grounds that they already get enough links and don't need/won't miss one from me.
I tend, now, to link to blogs that I enjoy because of the writing, the information they provide, because I have some relationship with the blogger, or because they've linked back to mine. I have a separate list of links for blogs linking back to mine, in part because I'm interested in who's reading my blog. And a good way to find that out is to find out who's linking to it.
I really liked Terrence's answer to that question. I see so many bloggers who link to/only read the "A listers." If blogs were items of clothing, the "A listers" would be fashion trends that first year college students think they have to wear to be cool.
Question 15. Name three of your favorite bloggers (ya can't name yourself, sorry). Tell us why these bloggers are your favorites.
Only three?! Oh no. I'll give it a try... Well, aside from the three contributors at Shakes, and SistersTalk, which is a given, I'd have to say Pam's House Blend, The Heretik, and Lance Mannion.
The Blend is just an outstanding blog; Pam is a great writer, and her regular forays into Freeperland to get their responses on stories is an act of blogging bravery that never fails to amaze me. She's also a friend who I absolutely adore - she is smart and funny and totally cool. All of those attributes come through on her blog every day, which I honestly can't recommend enough.
The Heretik's blog is wholly unique. Every one of his posts is introduced with another amazing image he's created, and everything he writes is poetry. Joe manages to get to the hearts of issues, their emotional center, always with elegance. And he's one of the most kind and generous bloggers around, never failing to promote his favorites.
Mannion is a terrific writer, and I find myself often inspired by his work. Several of the posts on my "Greatest Hits" list start out with "Mannion had an interesting post today..." He's also a random blogger, writing about lots of topics, but sees politics as a thread that runs throughout our lives in many ways, a view I share, which always makes him an interesting read.

I'm finally able to breathe well enough to process the really nasty possibility that Justice Antonin Scalia just might be the next Chief Justice. Besides being Dick Cheney's hunting buddy, he's the most conservative justice on the court. He believes in strict constitutionalism -- if your right isn't spelled out explicitly in the constitution, you ain't got it. In other words, no translations allowed. You know what that means for a woman's right to control her own body, dontcha? And let's not forget what that means for gay rights and social security issues.
We're looking at two issues here with Chief Rehnquist's death: (1) who Bush will appoint to the bench to replace him, and (2) who Bush will choose as the new Chief Justice. Both of these choices are extremely important issues that will affect so many people for a very long time.
I'm willing to bet Rehnquist's replacement -- in either case -- will not be Black and his replacement will not be female. The tenure is much too long for such an honor. The evangelicals will never allow Bush to give his tokens life long appointments. Who are we kidding?
Update:
September 4, 2005 2:30 am
I really need to be in bed, but I wanted to comment on Ezra Klein's take on this issue:
I wouldn't be surprised to see Bush put Roberts up for Chief Justice, simply because he looks confirmable, his paper trail is so short, there are so many more battles to fight, and Roberts is so young. Trying to run one confirmation battle, another confirmation battle, and dealing with a war over the elevation of Scalia or Thomas to Chief would be an almost impossible task.
Changing the constitution to insert blatant discrimination against an entire group of people seems like an almost impossible task, but it certainly didn't stop the little weasle from tryin', now did it? And well, Dubya really does owe the evangelicals a big one since he pretty much screwed 'em over when he didn't rush to jumpstart the whole Federal Marriage Amendment Act again after he won re-election. Handing the title of Chief Jutice over to someone like Scalia would be just the payback the evangelicals would be looking for.
Again, Bush isn't running for re-election and the son-of-a-bitch could care less what his approval rating looks like. I'm not sure why we care either.

I just received a breaking news report from CNN that Chief Justice Rehnquist has died. I suddenly felt that fiery anger I used to feel when I first started blogging. I felt that passion I felt during those final months of the Bush/Kerry campaign. There's no way in hell I'll sit quietly while some arrogant, spoiled, rich, dumb, drunken white boy whose Daddy bought his way into the White House gets to choose two -- count them, TWO -- people men who will play an important role in deciding my children's future. Oh hell no!
I think I feel sick. I see the evangelicals jumping up and down, praising God that Rehnquist has fallen dead. This gives their puppet a chance to place two "men of God" on the bench and turn this country into the Hol(ier) Land.

useless! worthless! insipid!: "It would be hard to find someone who would in practical terms be worse than Rehnquist . . . "

Pardon My English: "Before the real battle for Sandra Day O'Connor's replacement has even begun, President Bush now faces the prospect, along with everything else he has on his plate right now, of joining yet another Supreme Court battle -- this one for Chief Justice."

While watching late night television, I saw a very short black and white film about a daughter coming out to her mother. It was a cute little comic strip created in a sort of silent movie style. By the end of the film, I knew I wanted to find the creator and talk to her. I'm sure you will enjoy the creator as much as I did.
Susan Justin was born on July 28, 1969. She currenly lives in Toronto, Canada and listens to all music except heavy rock, metal, and punk music. Her favorite movies are Edward Scissorhands, Aliens, Shawshank Redemption, Baraka, and Mrs. Dalloway. She said she had way too many hobbies to list for me.
ST: "Listen" is a short film about a daughter coming out to her mother. Her coming out falls on deaf ears. Does this resemble your own coming out?
Susan: The conversation that occurs in the movie is based on a conversation that I've had with my mother for 8 long years. The funny thing is that after I made the movie I stopped talking about gay things to my mother. I decided to talk about what I could with both parents even if it was just about the weather. My parents are now asking me about gay aspects of my life and have even offered relationship advice! In general, they are much more responsive to me now. It seems that my desire to listen and accept them first has started to make things easier. Communicating is hard, especially with parents. It's hard to be the first to extend kindness and acceptance to others, especially when you are not getting it back, but I believe that as a member of the human race, we cannot afford not to learn to do that.
ST: I first saw "Listen" while watching LOGO at about 2 am. Since speaking with you a few days ago, I've seen the film several more times. How did you get connected with LOGO?
Susan: I have a distributor here in Canada that deals the distrubution of the film. Information on how to get in touch with them is on my website.
ST: How long have you been creating short films? Is this your first?
Susan: This is my first short animated film. I have been harbouring a secret dream of making my own animated film since childhood. I work as a commercial graphic artist (making web sites for the commercial world, and airbrushing pimples off of people) and need to make my own comics and animated films in order to keep my sanity!
How does it work? Well, bloggers get to reach one arm waaay up in the sky, bend it at the elbow, and pat themselves on the back. Sorta. They'll answer a series of questions and I'll post their answers here at SistersTalk. They even get a chance to do some serious name droppin'.
It should be loads of fun. Who wants to be first?

Aaron emailed me and asked that I blog about Katrina. Yes, I know there was a devastating hurricaneinNew Orleans. I've only heard about it for days and days on LOGO -- MTV's new gay network. I didn't have the emotional energy to blog about this. Besides, jumping on the story right away always feels like I'm chasing the next big "everybody's doing it" blog story. I hate that. You can't imagine how much I hate that.
It's interesting how LOGO has covered the Katrina story (using a CBS News correspondent, I might add). The angle LOGO's CBS News has taken is to discuss the damage this hurricane has done to the historic gay district in New Orleans. There's been a repeat of an interview with Christopher Rice for several days on LOGO. Rice discusses how he feels about the damage Katrina has done to New Orleans' gay district. Rice did not, however, ask viewers to send money, non perishable food items, or clothes to survivors -- gay or straight. In addition, there have been few, if any, news alerts on LOGO used to ask viewers to donate to the Red Cross or other non-profit organizations. Only in the past 24 hours or so has LOGO started running a random (very random) ticker at the bottom of the screen asking viewers to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
And of course, ya gotta have your race issues develop from this crisis. A SistersTalk reader posted this looting vs. finding link in the comment thread for Q&A With Lesbian Comedienne Vickie Shaw. Apparently, white people find stolen items when they happen to be floating along (come on now, ya know they don't belong to you) and Black people perform the act of looting. How about that! The media can find something to make an issue of -- besides dead people, hungry people, and homeless people -- when thousands of people experience a crisis such as this one. When they can focus on race, that makes the story so much better, doesn't it? Of course it does. It annoys the hell out of people like me, and it gets those racist sons-of-bitches all excited thinking the media has proven once again that Black people really are a buncha low-life criminals.
About 5 minutes ago, I saw the Christopher Rice interview on LOGO (yep, again). It was edited a bit to include footage that wasn't included before. I saw footage of looting and police pointing guns at people. Umm, Black people. Coincidence? Maybe. Have the police pointed guns at any white folks in New Orleans during this ordeal? I'm just askin'. In addition, I saw footage that included property damage that wasn't related to the gay community. Most of the broadcast was still related to the gay community though.

Finally, LOGO's CBS News coverage of Katrina is less about the loss of New Orleans' historic gay district and more about well, death and destruction. I got a secret for the folks in charge at LOGO: just because I'm watching a gay network doesn't mean I want them to find a way to develop a hurricane story around homosexuals -- unless the hurricane killed only homosexuals. I have to give them a big fat F on this one.
Oh yeah, Condi says race had nothing to do with Bush's slooooow response to Katrina victims.

I'm thinking we'll get to see more of Republican presidential hopeful Arnold Schwarzenegger's flip floppin' ways now that the CA senate just approved a gay marriage bill.
Schwarzenegger, a naturalized citizen who wants full and equal rights in this country (damnit!) and wants to change the constitution so that naturalized citizens can become president, once stated that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry. Schwarzenegger does, however, support domestic partnerships. Oh wait. Is that right?Schwarzenegger told Leno that such unions [gay marriage] would be "fine with me" if the courts or the voters change state law and make them legal.
I get the feeling that once this new gay marriage bill crosses the Governor's desk, Arnold will think more about his future in politics (and who will contribute the most to his extremely ambitious plans to become president) than he will about equal rights for Americans -- unless you're a white male who becomes a naturalized American citizen, becomes an actor, marries into a prominent, white, political family, and wants to become president of the United States. Then, and only then, do you deserve full and equal rights in this country.
