Vickie Shaw is definitely one of the funniest southerners you'll ever meet. This blonde-haired lipstick lesbian defies all stereotypes -- and tickles your funny bone in the process. A recovering Southern Baptist, Vickie believes her own life provides the best material.
Vickie has headlined at the Michigan Womyn’s Festival, the Dinah & Lina Shore Golf Tournament, Comedy Undergound in Seattle, The Improv in Cleveland, Wall Street in Columbus, The Light Project in Miami and on Olivia Travel cruises.
It was an honor to have an opportunity to ask Vickie a few questions.
ST: I imagine you always made people laugh as a child. Were you the child who always got in trouble in school because you wouldn't keep quiet?
Vickie: Well oddly enough that is exactly correct. The only time I was sent to the principals office was I was telling jokes and someone laughed out loud -- and of course I got sent [to the office]. I did a lot of time with my nose in the corner or in a circle on the blackboard because I wouldn't keep quiet. One of my High School English teachers told me I had diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain! She loved me! Really!
ST: When did you know you wanted to be a comedienne?
Vickie: Secretly I always wanted to but I thought comedians were too smart and I could never be that smart. I didn't try it until I was in my late 30's. I actually did it so I could tell my kids I did something that I always wanted to, never guessing I would make a career of it. I just wanted to say I did it.
'The Japanese government is still legally responsible for inhumane crimes such as comfort women, which involved state power including the government and the military,' the prime minister's office said in a statement.
Up to 200,000 Korean women are believed to have served as comfort women, who were sex slaves mobilized for Japanese troops during World War II.

Faggot Girl points to one of the protest signs at Crawford.
I met Faggot Girl -- a dyke superhero who looks a lot like Barbie -- a few months ago on Gay.com. I found her profile very interesting and wanted to talk to her immediately. We talked for awhile and I even interviewed her (interview coming soon) for the SistersTalk blog interview series.
California Court Rules on Same-Sex Couples Raising Kids

In a landmark ruling, the California Supreme Court rules that if gay and lesbian couples raise children together, then break up, both parents are responsible for supporting the children. In other words ladies and gentleman, you can't walk out on the children when your relationship ends.
"The court is now protecting the children of same sex parents in gay families in the same way children are protected with heterosexual couples in heterosexual families," said Jill Hersh, who argued the unnamed Marin County woman's case.
Emily B., an El Dorado County woman whose former lover must now pay to support the children following the court's ruling, said she might be able to get off of welfare now.
"I'm absolutely overjoyed today," she said.
I bet this ruling is making a few lesbians just a bit nervous. I'm kinda curious to learn how many deadbeat lesbian mommies there are out there. It's hard enough to chase down deadbeat Dads who aren't taking care of their kids, I can't imagine the challenges this new ruling will present. I mean, how many gays and lesbians have spent years raising kids with their partner then split up -- leaving the other parent to care for the children alone? A whole lot of you in CA can expect to receive those past due child support bills anyday now. And since I'm a bit jaded after spending 2 years fighting to retain custody of my children because Daddy hates writing child support checks, I can't say I feel bad for any of you.

I wanted to avoid discussing Cindy Sheehan too much here at SistersTalk, but I found a great article on Alternet: Where Are The Black Cindy Sheehans?:
The moving sight of aggrieved mother Cindy Sheehan camped out in front of President Bush's ranch touched a national nerve. Sheehan is a white mom that lost a son. And who wouldn't be compassionate and sensitive to her loss? But there are plenty of black moms that have lost sons in Iraq, and few have followed Sheehan's example and publicly and dramatically raised their voices in protest.
Though polls show that more blacks than whites oppose the war, and black Congressperson Maxine Waters has hammered Bush on Iraq, there has been no mass move by blacks to publicly join the antiwar chorus. Few blacks showed up at the peace vigils that Sheehan's one-woman protest stirred nationally in August. With the arguable exception of an antiwar march in Harlem on the second anniversary of the Iraq invasion, the faces of the antiwar protestors have looked like Sheehan's.
The fact that very few Blacks have actually joined any anti-war protests really isn't a surprise to me. Much of the political activity we've seen from Blacks lately has been aimed at banning gay marriage -- a very conservative idea.
For some reason, it's difficult to mobilize Blacks to protest the war when slowly, but surely, Black voters seem to be moving closer to the middle of the party-line. If liberals decided to visit Black churches and push our agenda -- like Bush did during his push to ban gay marriage -- we might see more Blacks speaking out against the war.
Bill O'Reilly Says Liberals Quiet About Child Abuse

Yesterday, while having dinner with my boss in a 24-hour truck-stop restaurant, I was watching Bill O'Reilly (forgive me, please) when he briefly mentioned Jessica Lunsford -- a 9 year old girl who was raped and buried alive. O'Reilly took an opportunity to make jabs at liberals and "liberal" states that haven't passed new laws like the Jessica Lunsford Act -- passed unanimously by the Florida House in May 2005. O'Reilly stated "liberals have been surprisingly quiet about protecting children."
Of course, I was livid and the rant began. I loudly declared that it wasn't the liberals who spent a year trying to change the constitution to keep adult homosexuals from marrying -- it was the conservatives. It seems to me that year would have been better spent writing new laws to protect children from sexual abuse. But of course, O'Reilly's lame ass agenda to attack liberals on every front made it impossible for him to admit that conservatives would rather march in the streets to protect heterosexual marriage long before they march in the streets to protect children from sexual abuse.
I hate turning such a serious issue like child abuse into a party-line issue, but I MUST defend liberals and progressives against O'Reilly's sad ass attempt to turn liberals -- as a whole -- into child haters. Where was O'Reilly's concern when it became apparent that supposed christian women were using God as an excuse to murder their children? And where was O'Reilly's concern for children when the conservatives distracted the nation from this very serious issue by turning everyone's attention to the ban on gay marriage? Oh yeah, I forgot. Bill was too busy sexually harassing his co-worker to pay attention to child sex abuse.
Hello, my name is Susan Turnbull and I am a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee. Over the past year I have realized the important role bloggers play in the political process and have begun reaching out to the blogosphere on behalf of the DNC by posting diaries and comments at Daily Kos, MyDD, DemBloggers, and Swing State Project. I have found my early outreach efforts on these sites to be informative and productive, which has increased my desire to reach out to more progressive bloggers.
Another one of my responsibilities as Vice Chair is outreach to women's groups and helping to spread the message of how the Democratic Party is better than our opponents on the issues that affect women and their families such as choice, daycare, education, domestic violence, healthcare, and security. I have a long history of working on these issues: in the past I have served as the Chair of the DNC Women's Caucus, the Chair of the Women's Leadership Forum, and a founder of the Women's Vote Center at the DNC.
I would like to open a dialogue with you and other Democratic women who blog. I can tell from reading your blog that you are very knowledgeable on issues of concern to women. I would certainly appreciate your advice on how to frame our arguments and any useful information you can alert us to regarding women's issues.
I would also like to better communicate to you what the DNC Women's Vote Center is doing. In the future, I intend to stay in contact with you and let you know about critical actions that need to be taken to protect women's rights, commentary and information on developments that your readers may be interested in hearing about, and any initiatives launched by the DNC to reach out to women voters.
I look forward to establishing this new avenue for exchange of ideas and information.
Sincerely,
Susie
Susan W. Turnbull Vice Chair, Democratic National Committee

Now, the only thing I'd like to point out here is that the DNC has spent much of its blog exploration time -- so far -- hanging out on popular liberal blogs instead of reaching out to women bloggers who may not be as popular as the bloggers mentioned in this email. And that, dear folks, has always been one of my complaints. I'm sorry, I meant one of my gripes: choosing bloggers because they're popular instead choosing a diverse group of bloggers who address all the issues for all the people.
It is very nice to see Susan's recent efforts, even if it's been a long time coming. Please, women, get in touch with Susan at the Democratic National Committee and let her know what issues you would like to see addressed.
Leavey says progressive bloggers are ignoring the economy in favor of chattin' it up about Cindy Sheehan and Valeria Plame. Let's not forget The Downing Street Memo; that certainly had progressives and liberals distracted for quite some time.
She also says:
“It’s progressive politicians who should be paying more attention.” But, this issue has been overshadowed by the myriad of other issues being pushed by the progressive grassroots. The very sector that liberal and progressive grassroots need to reach out to, are being left by the wayside. To many of these people, their pocketbook is the number one concern, yet no one is listening.
What Leavey is forgetting is that many progressive and liberal bloggers who blog on politics choose their topics based on the probability that the topic will (a) explode into the next big blog discussion or (b) make their blog the hottest linked blog for a week or two. Oh come on, don't get mad. We all know it's true. We've gotten just as bad as the mainstream media (MSM as bloggers like to call them) we bitch about so much. Now, if the state of our shitty economy was turned into a major discussion at Kos, every liberal blogger playing the catch-up game would jump all over the subject. Progressives choose the subjects we want to push, and we do so for very self-serving reasons most of the time. If that doesn't make us just like the MSM, then what does?

The BBC reports that a hunt for the best gay novels has begun. Here's a list of the suggested great gay reads:
Jake Arnott -- The Long Firm Amanda Boulter -- Around the Houses Michael Cunningham -- A Home at the End of the World Stella Duffy -- Calendar Girl Jeffrey Eugenides -- Middlesex Alan Hollinghurst -- The Line of Beauty Dorothy Porter -- The Monkey's Mask Colm Toibin -- The Story of the Night Sarah Waters -- Tipping the Velvet Jeanette Winterson -- Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit
Source: Commonword
Unfortunately, I don't see too many books on this list that really go against the grain -- other than the fact that they're "gay" novels. It kinda reminds me of great books by Black novelists who do nothing more than master the art of copying someone else's style.
These questions are being used to determine the best gay reads:
1. Which lesbian or gay novels have most impressed you?
2. Are more - and better - gay novels available now?
3. Should lesbian and gay-themed novels be separated from other books in this way?
If you want to participate in the survey by answering these questions, please visit UK hunts for favourite gay novel and scroll to the bottom of the page to complete the form. I wouldn't mind hearing some of your answers, too.

It's nice to know LoToyia's family finally has some peace. Hopefully other families in similiar situations will soon find closure.

Gays in committed relationships can't be clergy in the Lutheran church. Last week, delegates to a churchwide biennial meeting in Orlando, FL voted 503-409 to affirm the church's ban on ordaining sexually active gays and lesbians.
Schick said the church task force that worked on the issue for three years captured some of the important aspects of the arguments. All of the proposals by the panel were meant as a compromise that would satisfy both those who support gay clergy and those who regard gay sex as sinful.
"The actions taken by the delegates were the correct actions at this time," said Fogle. "It shows the church is too divided and we are not ready to make any major changes now."
I understand why the church wouldn't want gays who are in committed relationships to be clergy; sexually active, heterosexual, single men make much better clergy. Wouldn't you agree?
Christian Rapper Kanye West Calls for End to Gay Bashing

Kanye West has done it again. First he told the world that rappers could rap about Jesus -- and make lots of money in the process. Now, he's telling his fellow rappers and hip-hoppers to stop bashing gays. In a rather bold move during an MTV interview, West calls for an end to gay bashing in rap and hip-hop.
"West says hip-hop was always about "speaking your mind and about breaking down barriers, but everyone in hip-hop discriminates against gay people." He adds that in slang, gay is "the opposite, the exact opposite word of hip-hop."
Kanye's message: "Not just hip-hop, but America just discriminates. And I wanna just, to come on TV and just tell my rappers, just tell my friends, `Yo, stop it.'"
I noticed this story about Kanye West isn't receiving nearly as much attention from the gay press as the story about Chris Rock's supposed anti-gay rantings. I saw Rock on Graham Norton, a talk show hosted by a gay host and shown on MTV's gay network LOGO. I guess Rock isn't all that homophobic, eh?
Anyway . . . It's nice to see someone like Kanye West standing up and speaking out against what seems to be the norm in hip-hop music: gay bashing. I don't expect his words to change the face of hip-hop much, but I can hope he'll be a great influence on the young people who look up to him.

A new ad campaign launched by Nike glorifies real women with real curves. This ad campaign, launched after Americans reacted favorably to Ms. FAT Chance (the first nationally televised beauty pageant for plus-sized women) has started a new trend of "junk in the trunk appreciation."
This new trend reminds me of Julia Roberts and the full lips mania back when "Pretty Woman" was released. It took a beautiful white girl -- and lots of Hollywood glitz -- to make full lips attractive even though full lips is a very common feature for Blacks and several other ethnic groups.
I remember a debate years ago about Jet Magazine's Beauty of the Week. Jet's readers began to complain that the Beauty of the Week looked like a white girl with a tan; she had small lips, straight wavy hair, and small hips and thighs. Many readers felt as if Jet Magazine was promoting a beauty standard that told young Black girls they had to look white to be beautiful.
So, does the media and hollywood set beauty standards? Or, are we just stupid enough to allow the media to define beauty standards for us?
Ok, so now Nike has decided to embrace "real" women. Are we supposed to run to the nearest sporting goods place and buy Nike products now? Their advertising strategy couldn't be more transparent. Perhaps an appreciation of all women early on wouldn't make Nike look like money hungry bastards riding the latest fat appreciation trend.
The story, prompted by a Servicemebers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) article published on August 4, 2005. The article reports that gay and lesbian servicemembers are being targeted for their online profiles. Connexions has posted a list of DOs and DONTs for those gay and lesbian service members who want to chat with other gays and lesbians. This advice will help gay and lesbian servicemembers avoid that whole nasty business of being outed. Warning: if you're a hypocritical, closeted, anti-gay homosexual who spends your time working to ruin other gay peoples' lives, then you probably shouldn't be chattin' online if you don't want liberal bloggers to out your ass and spread your business all over the 'net.
Some of the advice seems like common sense to me. For example:
Do not use your real last name. . .
Do not use the name of your military base as your location.
Do not use military keywords (like "military", "army", "navy", marines", etc.) anywhere in your profile. . .
Do not use a government computer to access your Connexion account. And do not access your account during duty hours.
I've lost count of how many times I've been in a chat room and met women who use screen names like "NavyGyrl" -- or "ArmyDyke" -- then admit they are in the military. They have balls of steel, too, because they actually post photos of themselves in full uniform. They're in the chat room running their mouths about where they're stationed, what kind of work they do, and how long they've been in the military. They give more than enough information to identify exactly who they are. One could argue that the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy is discriminatory; therefore, any servicemember (gay or straight) should be able to speak freely online about whatever he or she pleases. I agree with that completely, but that still doesn't mean it's smart for gay servicemembers to out themselves to complete strangers online -- unless they want to be discharged.
I suppose the bleeding heart progressive in me should be a bit more sympathetic here. But, I can't muster up the sympathy -- not about this. Let's be honest folks, a lot of the people I've spoken with say they advertise their military status in chat rooms because it's a mating call. You know, the whole, I love a man/woman "in uniform" thing. And apparently, it's a great mating call that works wonders. How many postal workers post pictures of themselves in full uniform? How many McDonald's employees post photos of themselves in full uniform? How many people who collect cash at toll booths post photos of themselves in full uniform? Uh huh. You get my point.

I've been caught up in work and my custody case so I haven't had much of a chance to post. I was in court yesterday to hear the judge's decision. I was quite pleased, but my exhusband was very upset. I won.
What's really most important is that the arrangement we have is what's best for the children. My exhusband wanted sole legal custody, primary placement, and wanted me to see the children only during the summers. I wanted joint legal custody, primary placement, and liberal visitation for Dad. If he got custody of the children, our oldest son would have been sent off to military school to deal with his ADHD. Did I ever tell ya my exhusband is kinda stupid?
I took a job as a Finance & Sales Manager for a small car dealership here in town. I have never worked in the auto industry before so it's very challenging work. Just the way I like it! I'll be in Southfield, MI the week of August 22 - 26 for training. If you know the area, can you tell me if there's anything to do there?

I've spent the week watching various shows on LOGO, MTV's gay television network. While I haven't been particularly moved by anything I've watched recently, I did think these shows were worth the time wasted -- and quite entertaining, too:
Round Trip Ticket. This show is VERY male-focused but very informative if you like to travel. Some effort was made to provide travel tips for lesbians, but I suppose gay men either travel more or spend more money when they travel. If you can catch an episode of Round Trip Ticket, you'll see for yourself that gay men get the most attention.
First Comes Love . This is a show about gay couples planning a wedding. It's hosted by a comedienne so it gets really damn funny. I can find my own humor without the comedienne, especially when I start wondering how many UHAUL trips the lesbian couples have already had.
Real Momentum, the documentaries, seem to be nice. A documentary on Brandon Teena will air on Saturday night at 9pm.
One film series I'm not impressed with is the one on straight actors who had the "courage" to "play gay." It's called Acting Out: The Guts to Play Gay. I think we should be honoring gay actors who had the strength to come out after playing the straight game for years. But, when you need straight advertising dollars to keep your network running, ya gotta kiss ass all ovah the place, eh? That series runs every Tuesday if you're interested in seeing who your straight heroes should be.
In the time I spent watching LOGO, I didn't see too many people of color. I hope that will change. The network is still in its infancy so I hope to see much maturity for the network in the future.
Update: August 15, 2005 10:00 am I saw Bent last night on LOGO. Excellent movie. I watched it twice! It's a movie about gays in Nazi Germany. I was surprised to see Mick Jagger playing a very small role in the film.
I also saw a cute little movie called Ski Trip -- a movie about 5 or so Black gay men who go on a ski trip (yeah right!) with their lesbian friend. In this group was a drag queen, a drama queen, a trick, an artist, and a political activist. Oh, and the lesbian is pregnant for the drag queen. Ya gotta see it. Too funny.

My 13 year old son was recently diagnosed with the disorder ADHD. He had a very rough year in school last year and his relationship with his father has deteriorated drastically in the past couple of years. For years, his teachers have suggested we have him evaluated for ADHD, but I was always dead set against it because I've heard/read so much about schools medicating children because they exhibit behaviors teachers just don't like: fidgeting, speaking out of turn, disrupting class, and being inattentive. It's always been my idea that most children hate to sit still for long periods of time -- so why should I medicate my child just so his teacher didn't have to deal with behavior she had to have known children would exhibit? In elementary school, I often gave his teachers advice about how to modify my son's behavior in class; I suggested they use quick and swift discipline. Warnings never work for my son because it gives him the idea that he has a second and third chance to misbehave. The teachers who took my advice didn't have problems with my son; those who ignored it -- and insisted I medicate him instead -- had many problems with him.
In the past couple of years, my oldest has had some difficulty with his grades and he's had a lot of trouble with staying focused when he's in the classroom. His teachers say he learns more when they place his desk outside the classroom near the door and make him listen to lectures from the hallway. In May, school officials informed me that my son would be expelled if his behavior didn't improve. What behavior is that? Well, he's not fighting. He's not bringing guns to school. He's not dealing drugs in school. He's just really disruptive in class. And that warrants expulsion according to the school board. So, I finally decided to have him evaluated and his test results say he has the disorder ADHD.
Now, I'm not happy about medication; he's only 13 years old. I just watched an A&E production about the dangers of ADHD medication. One woman stated her school district kicked her son out of school after she refused to continue to medicate him. After the mother decided to home-school her child, school officials reported her to DCFS because she refused to give the child Ritalin so he could return to public school. At my son's expulsion hearing, I was told that I had to have him evaluated for ADHD, and if he's diagnosed ADHD, I had to place him on some kind of medication and treatment plan before he could return to school. It wouldn't be a huge loss for him to get kicked out of the Beloit School District -- honestly, it wouldn't -- but he really wants to be with his friends.
If anyone knows of any alternative treatment plans, something other than medication, please drop a comment.

Does this really surprise anyone? The Cincinnati Post reports that Fox News' Greta Van Susteren has experienced a major increase in ratings since becoming obsessed with the Natalee Holloway story:
Critics find it an obsession bordering on the bizarre, twisting traditional notions of news judgment and becoming Exhibit A in the media's fascination with missing people - as long as they happen to be young, white, female and pretty.
The Chicago Sun Times writes:
With war and terrorism in the news, critics wonder how one missing person case can so dominate a news program. Even on the night President Bush nominated John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court, ''On the Record'' spent far more time on Holloway.
It would be nice if, instead of writing about our unhappiness with the media's obsession with Natalee, that these articles were focused on other missing people.

I want to ask the president, why did he kill my son?" Sheehan told reporters. "He said my son died in a noble cause, and I want to ask him what that noble cause is."
Sheehan said hers was one of a group of about 15 families who each met separately with the president one day last June.
"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name," she told CNN Sunday. "Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject."
Drudge Report keeps kissin' the conservative ass that pays his enormous advertising fees. Good ol' Matt has grossly misquoted Cindy Sheehan -- not in the name of truth, but to appeal to his conservative readers and advertisers.

CyDy Blog presents an interesting question: what is a baby dyke? The question came up in a great little post about strap-ons and vibrators.
It's always been my idea that a baby dyke is a young lesbian -- someone in her teens to about age 21 or so -- who goes out of her way to look like a male Abercrombie & Fitch model. She's just coming out the closet and she has the idea that a lesbian is supposed to "look and act like a boy" -- whatever it is that boys look and act like. The "boy" look on "baby dykes" is somewhat forced; it's not an androgynous look at all. For me, it's a somewhat awkward stage of self-identification. Of course, that's just how I view it. I'm sure others see it differently.

I've been tagged for the Gay Blogger Meme Tag by TCF. I usually ignore these sorts of things but I feel compelled to participate in this one by answering the following questions:
1. If we are single or in a monogamous relationship? 2. How long we have been with our partner/significant other/boy/girlfriend? 3. How we met? 4. What we like to do together? 5. If we are single, what life with our ideal spouse/partner would look like?
One of the things I find interesting about the LGBT subculture is how much our desires reflect mainstream society. I also find it very interesting that we tend to have the same prejudices and practice the same discriminating tastes as our heterosexual counterparts; we just like to pretend we are different in some way.
I'm single, so I can only answer question 5. I'm looking for someone who wants to have a family. She wants to watch my kids grow up; she wants to be at their high school graduation; she wants to be at their college graduation; she wants to be a grandma someday. She likes to listen to me talk her to sleep. She likes coffee and conversation on the porch. She hates the bar scene every weekend. She has an insatiable sexual appetite. She's Black or White or Hispanic or Asian or whatever. Preferably she's butch. If not, she's a femme with lots of attitude. She's confident and very intelligent. She knows what's going on in the world. She knows how to deal with me when no one else wants to put up with me.

Tonight, I caught the last hour of Mo'Nique's Ms. F.A.T Chance Pageant -- the first televised beauty pageant for fat women. I see these kinds of pageants all the time, but they're usually pageants for fat drag queens -- who always look so much better than most women I know.
I started watching the pageant as the women were showing off their lingerie (instead of the traditional bathing suit). I fell in love with contestant Sharon Quinn right away. She walked out in the hottest lingerie I've ever seen, strutting the most amazing confidence and energy. She was tall, dark, bald, and beautiful. I was in love right away. Joanne, another contestant, had the most beautiful smile and a fabulous voice. She and Sharon were the last 2 finalists. I loved Sharon's comment to skinny America: "Eat a cheeseburger or 2, you'll be a lot happier." Joanne won, but I wish the winner was Sharon.
Anyway, it was really nice to see how the pageant gave the contestants more self-confidence. One woman talked about how she never exposed her arms because she was ashamed of them. I used to feel the same way about my arms. I've struggled with my weight for years and never wore shirts that exposed my upper arms. I finally grew very bored of the shame and bought several spaghetti-strap tank tops this summer. One thing I noticed is that lots of people look at my cleavage and no one is looking at my arms. After watching this pageant tonight, I wanna run right out and find a few of those outfits I saw -- lingerie and all.
Scary shit, indeed. The Islamophobic, anti-immigrant, nationalist tenor of the proposed measures is not, to my mind, at all tempered by Blair's question-begging disclaimer, that "this is [legislation] not in any way whatever aimed at the decent, law-abiding Muslim community of Britain." It is clear that this legislation attempts to further solidify the two-tiered citizenship system (national vs. naturalized) by limiting the rights of naturalized citizens and making immigration and citizenship more onerous processes for certain populations. For if it is true that "coming to Britain is not a right," there is no sense in which "being born in Britain" is a right, either. It doesn't follow from this that, once in Britain, one should not have certain inalienable rights, indeed the same rights as others, regardless of when or how one got there.

Aww, what a damn shame. Robert Novak has been suspended from CNN because he started swearing and walked off the show Inside Politics. I'm sure Novak will receive plenty applause from the GOP groupies for his very public and childish behavior. Personally, I love it when the "righties" lose their cool on national television -- especially since they're always acting like they're above the supposed "looney-like" behavior on the left.
Now, I'm waiting for the FCC to slap that bastard with a fine for his foul language.
Senators Ted Kennedy and Chuck Schumer don't even want Judge John Roberts to get an up-or-down vote!
In fact, high-level sources in Washington are telling us that Senate Democrats and their Hollywood-funded special interest friends are going to use the entire August recess to smear Judge Roberts.
Don't let liberal ideologues like Ted Kennedy and Chuck Schumer destroy our chances to take the Supreme Court back from the Far Left!
Recently I was one of a small group of conservative leaders and activists that discussed our strategy to support Judge Roberts. And our plan is very specific in what we need you to do:
During the summer recess, bombard the state offices of Republican Senators and some targeted Democrats with thousands of faxes. Demand that they stand firm in support of Judge John G. Roberts -- the President's nominee to succeed Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the U.S. Supreme Court. Warn them that the Left is already plotting to destroy this nomination. Tell them to alert their constituencies.
It's obvious that Judge Roberts has become Public Enemy Number One to the Leering Left and the wildly angry Democrats and pressure groups.
These sore losers -- that's right, THEY LOST (and Republicans forgot they won) -- hope to kill this nomination through lies and phony demands for more and more private documents from the White House.
So far they've found nothing they can use to smear Judge Roberts. But you know what? They'll smear him anyway. And mark my words, when they get tired of looking -- they'll just make stuff up!
Use the hyperlink below and send YOUR 101 PERSONALIZED BLAST FAXES to President George W. Bush and every Senator's state headquarters. Warn them that when they return to business in September, Ted Kennedy and Chuck Schumer will be waiting -- armed to the teeth with sleazy attacks -- ready to "Bork" another conservative judge who wants to put the Constitution first instead of embracing the Left's agenda. Tell them their job is to VOTE NOT OBSTRUCT!
If the above hyperlink does not function, please copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser.
BUT ISN'T THE ROBERTS NOMINATION A "DONE DEAL"?
Yes... we've heard the reports on the nightly news that the Roberts nomination is smooth sailing, too.
Do not be deceived!
I just love receiving these hyped up emails from the "religious" right; I get a kick out of their panic rhetoric. I also get a kick out of their "we're the defenders of the constitution" rhetoric -- especially since their idea of protecting the constitution is to add discriminatin' against homosexuals to it!
By the way, is it just me or does anyone find this organization's name (Center for Individual Freedom) just a bit hypocritical? I mean, this is an organization that doesn't support an adult's right to choose his/her lifetime partner if that partner is of the same sex.

M&M lovers everywhere will be surprised to learn they can add personalized greetings to their favorite chocolate candy. I thought it was a great idea; however, after reading the rules about personalized greetings, I'm wondering if Mars will soon see the same troubles the the NFL saw when consumers expressed anger about not being able to use certain words on customized jerseys.

Wisconsin has been dubbed as the worst state in America to be Black. This news really doesn't surprise me since it's always been my idea that WI is the Alabama of the Midwest. What DOES surprise me is that Alabama isn't on the 10 Worst States to Be Black list -- neither is Georgia, South Carolina, or Mississippi. Cheesheads really out to be ashamed here. I mean, REALLY ASHAMED.
Isn't it even more embarrassing to know that Wisconsin is worse than Texas? I'm also shocked to see California and Arizona on the list. What's up with that?

The gay teen who blogged about being committed to an ex-gay camp against his will has decided to delete the original contents of his blog and tell us all to go away. No big surprise there! There were so many inconsistencies in that "kid's" blog that keeping it online for the world to analyze would raise a few questions about "Zach's" credibility. I've always implied or explicity stated that I thought "Zach" was a phoney. I was even humored by the many, many liberal bloggers who couldn't wait to jump on yet another blog scandal without really questioning whether this "kid" was telling the truth. Now Zach says, "Currently I feel annoyed towards a lot of things. Love In Action has been misrepresented and what I have posted in my blogs has been taken out of perspective and context." If Love In Action was misrepresented, it was Zach's dramatic blog postings that prompted such an outcry about the organization to begin with. Zach even implies he's been changed in some way by Love in Action: "Homosexuality is still a factor in my life--- it's not who I am, it never has been. Those of you who really know me, know that homosexuality was always there but it didn't run my life, and it will not now."
Was this whole thing a scam to promote the ex-gay movement? I think it was. We all know how liberal bloggers (and conservative bloggers a like) just love a blog scandal they can ride straight (no pun intended) through the Technorati ranks. Starting a huge scandal about a supposed abusive ex-gay camp did nothing more than provide Refuge with a shitload of free advertising and publicity -- compliments of the liberal bloggers. Personally, I think liberal bloggers walked right into that shit trap -- blogging on "Zach's" plight and earning the organization's director free national televised publicity.
Of course, it's possible that (1) "Zach" exists and that (2) "Zach" now has the tools he needs to avoid living life as a homosexual. I seriously doubt both possibilities.
Ex-Gay Watch does a great job breaking down "Zach's" latest statement.

Felice Newman, author of the Whole Lesbian Sex Book, addresses a very interesting subject about sexual arousal and its relationship with sexual orientation. In her latest column, she writes:
Fact is, many people – lesbian, gay, heterosexual, bisexual - get off on porn that doesn’t reflect their actual sexual practices (or don’t get off on porn that does match their stated sexual orientation). One woman told me: “I have no doubt that I am a lesbian and have no desire to have sex with a man, but the thought of two guys doing it really makes my clit throb.” Why? Well, to some of us, cocks are hot. Just because we like to look at them doesn’t mean we need to marry one. (Although we might fantasize having one.) And some self-identified lesbians like having sex with men - straight men, bi men, gay men, and transmen. Plus gay male porn has the added benefit of being more accessible than lesbian porn - finding it just isn’t that hard (pardon the pun).
I love this subject, especially when I'm getting to know a new woman and we're discussing our sex fetishes -- gotta get that out of the way early, ya know? I know it's likely I'll be sexually compatible with a woman when I mention the fact that I absolutely love gay male porn and it doesn't freak her out. Also, if I mention my admiration of BDSM and she lights up, that's an added bonus.
As Newman says, "Desire is a slippery beast. What actually stirs you to passion may bear little resemblance to what you say you want or what you think you should want." I agree with that. I know many lesbians who would never admit to another lesbian that they enjoy gay male porn unless they know they're talking to someone who won't judge their desires -- automatically placing them in the "bisexual" category just because we like watching two men have sex. I know many straight women who enjoy "lesbian" porn -- not sure why they do, but they do. "[T]wo women pointing their tongues at each other like kittens lapping up milk isn’t my idea of hot sex," says Newman. I have to agree 100% with that. There's something just fuckin' kinky about two men having at it like wild animals. I love it!

Tonight's Larry King Live featured Natalee Holloway. Big surprise, eh? I was waiting for a mere mention of the missing non-white pregnant Latoyia Figueroa.
The media is really riding this story like they have nothing else to talk about. While they beat the Natalee Holloway story to death (no pun intended), Latoyia's family con
