First thing I want to say is: I'm not a reporter. I can be both selective and biased.
In addition, I don't feel it necessary to blog about those events because, well, all the bloggers who are desperate for visitors and comments are doing more than enough constant blogging on the subject. Anyone who is interested in reading about the events can find all the information they want through other avenues.
The other reason I have not blogged on the subject is because I have my own agenda. Dubya has an agenda; he wants to get elected. Kerry has an agenda; he wants to get elected. Conservative bloggers have an agenda; they want to prove the liberals are dumb assholes who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Liberals have an agenda; they want to prove the Conservatives are dumb assholes who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.
So, please, stop sending me these tastefully crafted emails about my lack of attention to the beheadings.

So, Laura Bush is going to work for her hubby -- hoping to woo female voters. But who will Laura Bush appeal to exactly? You? Me? Definitely not me. So it must be you. Will it work? Maybe. Maybe not. I think Laura Bush will be preaching to the choir. The women Laura Bush will appeal to are women who will vote the way their husbands plan to vote anyway. I mean, honestly, think about it. Who is she? What language does she speak?
Her language is this:
1. White, upper class 2. Conservative, White upper class 3. Religious, White, conservative, upper class 4. Married, religious, White, conservative, upper class
Will that language appeal to you? It won't appeal to me.
This is the problem of the feminist movement. Women who do not speak the same language. Women who have different agendas. Women who are willing to sell out other women to accomplish their own goals.
That is the language Laura Bush speaks. Who is she selling out?
1. Poor women 2. Black women and other non-White women 3. Homosexual women 4. Women who are Pro-Choice 5. Single mothers (remember that pathetic attempt by Dubya to make all single mothers get married?)
Perhaps I shouldn't make such a bold statement. Laura Bush isn't really a sell-out. The language she speaks is the language cultivated by her culture. It's a language developed specifically for her world. To be a sell-out you have to have cared (or at least pretended to care) for all women (poor, black, gay, single, and pro-choice) at some point in your life. You have to have cared and then turned your back. So no, Laura Bush isn't a sell-out. She just speaks a different language. Well, it's different from my language.

So Dubya celebrated Iraq's freedom today. How grand of him! Let's not forget that this freedom is freedom from U.S. control. His rhetoric was, well, rhetoric as usual -- full of arrogant (oh there's that word again) comments about the Iraqi people.
But the US President shook off the protests, the political tensions and the continuing violence in Iraq, saying the transfer of sovereignty there had been a "proud, moral achievement".
"The Iraqi people have their country back," Mr Bush said.
So, he shakes those people off just like he -- and many of his supporters -- shake off any American who disagrees with Dubya's politics. We've torn up Iraq and we're leaving the place in shambles. But, we gave the country back so Americans should be proud. Be proud of all the support you gave Dubya for this war from the beginning. Be proud of what you have accomplished.
Dubya has his Iraq cronies in place -- heading the Iraqi government. All you SUV owners can rest in peace now. You'll have great gas prices now that Iraq's leaders belong to the U.S. Have no doubt about it; Iraq's leaders belong to Dubya.
I wonder how we would feel if someone took over the U.S. and "gave" it back a year later -- torn up and in complete disarray.
Dubya is dumpin' Iraq because it's bad for his re-election efforts. That's really all to it. He was an arrogant ass about the war because he thought it would be good for his re-election efforts. If you can't accept that as having any ounce of truth, think back to the planned victory speech aboard the aircraft carrier last year, with the banner streaming behind him saying: Mission Accomplished.
I can promise you this: if someone invaded my home because they thought I was building weapons, then stayed an entire year just to tear up the damn place, I'd be very pissed off too.
This war was based on a bundle of lies fed to the American people. Let's be very proud of what we've accomplished.

Would you like to write a letter to Dubya? Visit Dear George Letters and say what you have to say. It looks like a pretty decent project.
In additon, if you'd like to write a letter to Mary Cheney (you know, the open lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney--the one who's making $100K working for the Dubya/Cheney campaign) visit Dear Mary. That site will keep you reading for awhile.
And for those clowns who keep writing anonymous postings and anonymous email using hotmail accounts -- check yourself. I do believe my balls are bigger than yours.

So, it looks like there's yet another politician who really knows all about family values and protecting his sacred union:
[Illinois Republican candidate Jack Ryan] has been struggling for political survival since Monday, when divorce records were released showing that his ex-wife, actress Jeri Ryan, said he took her to sex clubs and tried to pressure her to perform sex acts while others watched. Ryan has denied the allegations.
Although Fitzgerald and the National Republican Senatorial Committee stood by Ryan, he came under immediate pressure from many GOP officials in his home state to relinquish his nomination.
Those damn politicians and their selective values. I guess they just like judging us "arrogant" homos so they can ignore their own pathetic lives. Oh, and what is this?
``I told him that it troubled me greatly that so many party leaders who had no trouble stomaching years and years of corruption and insider deals and scandals under [Republican] George Ryan were now lining up to throw stones at Jack (no relation to George Ryan),'' Fitzgerald said.
``I think the public stoning of Jack Ryan is one of the most grotesque things I've seen in politics,'' he said. He said he talked to Ryan on Thursday but hadn't spoken with him since then
Aaah, I see. Republicans only cast stones at Democrats. How convenient. Those bastards had no problem whatsoever with telling the world about Monica Lewinski and everything else they could dig up about the Clintons. I can guarantee you if this news was about John Kerry, the Republicans would have a field day.

I took some time off to visit a great friend in Chicago and attend the 35th annual Chicago Pride parade. What an amazing feeling being surrounded by thousands and thousands of gay and gay-friendly people. If you ever get a chance to attend this event, you must! But, wear good shoes. Parking was a son-of-a-bitch.
One of the highlights of the festitivies was seeing Barack Obama's people campaigning at the parade. He has some amazing support going for him. I do believe Obama will take the U.S. Senate seat for IL with very few problems.
Now, I was very annoyed to see a John Kerry float in a gay pride parade. Let's see how the bastard votes in 3 weeks when the anti-gay amendment is placed before him. My bet? I bet he fucks us all in the you-know-what. We'll see how proud we are of Kerry then.
Ok, so lots of nudity at the festivities. Well, let's just say I applaud those brave ladies for being able to show their stuff in front of thousands and thousands of people. The dykes on bikes: **meow**
The gay men: handsome as usual. Enough said.
Although I did enjoy myself tremendously, I can honestly say --at this point-- that I've had my fill of Chicago Gay Pride. It's good to be back home to my own driveway and small town. Geezus, I couldn't believe what people pay to park in their own parking lot in the city of Chicago.
I do have a conspiracy theory about the outrageous cost of living in some of the nicer areas of Chicago, but I'll save that for another time.
So, keep your eye on the IL U.S. Senate race. Obama is the man to watch out for. He's worth 100 Jesse Jacksons anyday.
My first thought was to just leave it alone and not be a smart-ass. Besides, there are so many other items in the news I wanted to bitch about. But, of course I had to comment because I couldn't shake how ridiculous that statement sounds coming from the administration that has scared the hell out of so many corporations that I now have to talk to someone in India about my MCI account. And let me tell ya, you don't want to have to talk to anyone in India about your MCI account. There's a serious breakdown in verbal communication there.
I was trying to figure out what good the Dubya administration has done for job growth. I was also trying to figure out what good the Dubya administration has done anyone regarding taxes -- except themselves. Maybe there's some secret language in Cheney's statement, you know, a language meant only for the rich: economic proposals of John Kerry would mean higher taxes [for the rich] . Well, he should know, eh? That administration has perfected the art of job scattering.
Oh, what is this I see?
John G. Rowland (R) announced his resignation Monday, as his three-term rule collapsed after revelations that he had accepted tens of thousands of dollars of gifts from state contractors and top aides.
Resignation? That sorry son-of-bitch should be on his way to a federal prison. He can take the rest of the Republicans (and Democrats) with pockets full of lobbyist cash with him, too.
State and federal authorities have been investigating allegations that Rowland took gifts and favors from friends, state contractors and state employees in exchange for political influence, an accusation the governor has denied.
He wouldn't be the first, and he won't be the last.
And the last thing I wanted to complain about is the Supreme Court's ruling that citizens do not have the right to keep their name from police. I was disappointed with this ruling, well, just because I don't like cops (in general). I thought we had the right to remain silent, but I guess not:
A sharply divided Supreme Court ruled Monday that people who refuse to give their names to police can be arrested, even if they've done nothing wrong.
I'm sure you can guess who voted which way, without even bothering to read the article.

Well, well, well. What shall we make of this:
Saudi security forces killed four al Qaeda members in a shootout and launched a dragnet in Riyadh that captured 12 others in the aftermath of the beheading of an American defense contractor, Saudi officials said Saturday.
Money talks and shit walks? These supposed Al Qaeda terrorists were attempting to ruin relationships between Saudi Arabia and the United States. Which relationships? Why, financial relationships. And what did the Saudis do? In no time at all? That's right. Money talks and shit walks.
But see, the United States can't get away with doing something like that and making it so blatantly obvious. We let the Saudis do it for us. Let's just keep it real, shall we? At least the Saudis aren't pretending it's about something else.
So, what shall we call the Saudis who killed the Al Qaeda militants? I ask that of the people who believe that the entire Arab world should be nuked. Should we spare the good Saudi folks? Or, are they still just as worthless as ever? Should we take out the French instead? After all, they didn't want to be bothered with this whole situation to begin with.
But, I'm sure this isn't the end. Angry people multiply like roaches.

While in class tonight, my professor mentioned he had listened to audio tapes from one of the 9/11 flights on NPR as he drove in to class. He said military personnel were given instructions to shoot down the hijacked commercial planes just minutes after the flights were hijacked. Apparently, early into the event, one of the hijackers accidentally spoke to a controller at the FAA's Boston Center:
Nobody move. Everything will be OK. If you try to make any moves, you'll endanger yourself and the airplane. Just stay quiet.
The hijacker thought he was talking to the passengers on the plane. This alerted everyone that the planes had been hijacked. The planes were never shot down because military personnel were amazed to hear they were being told to shoot down US commercial aircraft.
I came home tonight and found links to the audio on NPR. I debated whether I should blog about the event, but decided I should. As my professor mentioned, even if the planes had been shot down, I don't think we would feel any better about it. We would still be angry about the lost lives on the commercial aircraft. No, we never would have known the impact those planes would have had on thousands of lives had the military actually shot them down; however, that still doesn't negate the fact that we would still be angry. Dissatisfied. Seeking answers.
How do you feel knowing this now? Do you think the Bush Administration purposely kept this from the public in the interest of National Security? If you don't think this was a National Security issue, then why are we just learning that there was a moment when the military, the Pentagon, and Bush knew the flights had been hijacked and the planes could have been shot down?
I have no opinion at this point. Can you believe that?

Actually, I'm sure you all know about this by now, but you know I have to say something:
Bluntly contradicting the Bush administration, the commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks reported Wednesday there was "no credible evidence" that Saddam Hussein had ties with al-Qaida.
So, looks like we've disturbed the ant hill. Ever seen one of those? You know it's an ant hill. You know what the inhabitants are capable of. And you also know that if you just don't kick it over, you won't have black ants crawling all over the place bitin' the hell out of people.
So, now al-Qaida has a tie to Iraq. Allegedly, there was no tie then, but there is a tie now. Uh huh . . . I don't know about everybody else, but I think the US has a huge mess on its hands.
I read an article in Time Magazine today that described the war in Iraq as Dubya's "holy war," although he adamantly denies that this is what the Iraq war is. The article also stated that there is a huge difference between (let me see if I can get this correct) praying that your desicions are right and assuming that your decisions are right just because you are praying. Dubya was described as doing the latter.
Oh, and in this issue of Time Magazine was a huge section dedicated to Ronald Reagan's lavish (and I do mean lavish) funeral. The guest list read like a Who's Who Among Head Haunchos With Their Finger on the Big Red Button. I've purposely refrained from posting any lengthy commentary on Reagan (out of respect), but it's definitely coming.

Here's what Rep. Lamar Smith, a Republican from Texas is up to:
A Texas congressman is set to introduce a bill Tuesday that would take the dramatic step of legislating the digital filtering of indecent content in movies.
Hmm . . . Let's see. Movies are already rated. As an adult who bears the responsibility for what my children are allowed to view, I do actually pay attention to the ratings on movies before I rent them.
As an adult who bears the responsibility for what my children view at the movie theatre, I do actually take into consideration the rating of a movie before I allow my children to visit the theatre to view it.
So, I'm sitting here trying to figure out why Lamar Smith would be wasting tax payer money to introduce this bill. What in the hell do these people do up there on Capitol Hill? Do they sit around trying to come up with bills to introduce just for the hell of it so the people who voted them in office feel like they've gotten some use out of their representatives?
Hello! We need some serious legislation regarding prescription medication for the elderly, and this clown is whippin' out a bill to remove more smut from movies. I gotta stop using the word "clown." I got that word from my Republican exhusband who thought everyone, but himself, was an idiot. I'm tellin' ya, I really do think these people have sexual dysfunctions. Removing smut from movies will not cure his sexual dysfunction.
Another thing. . . do these people really think parents are that stupid? Obviously they do. Obviously they don't trust our judgement and ability to make good decisions for our children. And obviously they're right because, well, Dubya is the head chief.
So here's my proposal: develop a support group for all the registered Republicans who have sexual dysfunctions. That way, they can stop meddlin' in everybody else's business and they'll keep their hands off my smut.

Score 1 for the religious and Conservative folks who don't quite seem to understand the phrase: "separation of church and state."
Today, the Supreme Court dismissed the case that challenged the legality of the phrase "one nation under God" in the pledge of Allegiance. The case was dismissed on a technicality:
The court said atheist Michael Newdow could not sue to ban the pledge from his daughter's school and others because he did not have legal authority to speak for her.
So, the religious folk and the Conservatives will be happy about that one. Some of them attempt to argue that it violates "freedom of speech." It's funny how when the Conservatives and the religious folk can't quite figure out how to work these issues into law, they throw the "freedom of speech" argument out there -- nevermind that this is a blatant violation of "separation of church and state." Now, unless I'm missing something, public schools are a state entity. And God is a "Church" issue. I could be wrong though, so feel free to correct me.
Now, if the Supreme Court had ruled that the phrase "one nation under God" within the text of the Pledge of Allegiance was indeed unconstitutional-- based on the "separation of church and state" issue -- do you realize what kinds of doors it would have opened? Oh yeah, they realize it. They, meaning the Conservatives and the religious folk who use God to control people's lives (and their bedrooms) by creating laws that are nothing more than an embodiment of their religious beliefs. Yes, I'm still jaded.
With all the different ethnic and cultural groups living in America, it's downright selfish, self-centered, and arrogant (using the DrinkThis lady's term for homos who dare to even thing about marrying legally in this country) to force all children in a classroom to feel the pressure of: (A)standing and acknowledging a God their parents have taught them does not exist, (B) standing and acknowledging one God, when their parents have taught them of another, or (C) forcing the child to decide to sit and single herself or himself out because he/she does not believe in the God mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance. School is not the place to discuss religion.
I remember when I was in Jr. High school there was an atheist in my class. His name was Zeke. I remember him very well, because he was in almost every class I had until the day I graduated from high school. It was the first time I had even heard of people who didn't believe in God. I grew up hearing about God, believing in God, and going to church (on occassion). So did most of the other children in the small southern town I grew up in. But not Zeke. Zeke was an atheist. Now, how did I learn that Zeke was an atheist? He wouldn't stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and the teacher called him out on it. He was forced to admit in front of the entire class that he didn't believe in God. We were all about 12 years old at the time. Zeke was ridiculed for as long as I can remember about.
This is not about freedom of speech. We don't allow our children to do or say anything in school that would make another child (or a teacher, heaven forbid!) feel uncomfortable or threatened. So, if we don't allow our children one form of freedom of speech in school, save your precious "freedom of speech" argument for the people who are dumb enough to fall for it.
So, all we need now is an atheist parent who has full custody of his/her child to take the issue before the Supreme Court once again. Let's see what kind of fancy dodge ball the Justices will play this time. I'm sure O'Connor and Thomas are just beaming over their success -- short-lived, hopefully. Too bad Scalia couldn't participate. It's funny though about that Scalia. He's a strict Constitutionalist; however, he said the words "one nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is indeed constitutional. I guess he missed the separation of church and state section, too. Or, maybe it's all that smoozin' with Cheney that's affecting him. Hanging out with dumb people will certainly have its effect on ya.

Dubya wanted the nation to worry about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, yet 2 days after 9/11, "a small jet landed at Tampa International Airport, picked up three young Saudi men and left." Why is this strange, you ask?
Well, all other flights were grounded. And, using tax payers' money, Dubya had an FBI agent and a Tampa police officer escort a member of the royal Saudi family out of the country:
The men, one of them thought to be a member of the Saudi royal family, were accompanied by a former FBI agent and a former Tampa police officer on the flight to Lexington, Ky.
The Saudis then took another flight out of the country. The two ex-officers returned to TIA a few hours later on the same plane.
For nearly three years, White House, aviation and law enforcement officials have insisted the flight never took place and have denied published reports and widespread Internet speculation about its purpose.
Ya know, Dubya really needs to figure out where his loyalties lie. I certainly know his Conservative supporters keep questioning my loyalties. I'm not quite sure why though, because I wasn't the one flying wealthy Bin Laden relatives out of the country just 2 days after 9/11. And I wasn't the one who spent 3 years lying about it either.
So, apparently, Dubya wasn't too concerned about Al-Qaida; however, he certainly set the course to make the nation afraid of Iraq.

Ok, so after reading this news, my first impulse was to hit Google and find every Conservative blogger I could possibly find just to see how they will all handle this tidbit of news:
Ex-Diplomats, Military Leaders Oppose Bush
WASHINGTON (AP) - Angered by Bush administration policies they contend endanger national security, 26 retired U.S. diplomats and military officers are urging Americans to vote President Bush out of office in November.
It's just a damn shame for me to get this much pleasure out of Dubya's demise; but ya know, I get a little bitter when some sorry son-of-a-bitch decides to write discrimination against me into the Constitution because he thinks it might win him the election. I take that quite . . . personal. It would be one thing if the man (word used quite loosely here) actually developed some kind of opinion that was actually driven by some small resemblance of a thought process. But since the decision to focus on us homos was made strictly to sway voters in his direction, I shall relish in every single moment of Dubya's misery.
Yes. I'm jaded. There are so many more things to be jaded about, but I'll be here all night if I get started.
So, I don't know which will be more pleasurable: (A)watching the Conservatives scramble to come up with a new name for the Retired Diplomats and military leaders who are now going to trash their boy like last month's leftovers, or (B) watching the liberals respond to this Right Wing hysteria.
I can see one of my tblog Right Wing favorites coming up with such headlines as, "Liberal Retired Diplomats and Military Leaders are Jealous of Bush's Success in Iraq." Or here's one for ya: Retired Diplomats and Military Leaders Brainwashed by Liberal Media.
There ya have it, folks. More criticism of the Commander-in-Chief from the folks you'd think would respect him the most. This really makes one wonder, doesn't it? I know it makes me wonder: how in the hell did we end up with that clown in the oval office to begin with? I sure wish I was rich, white, male, straight, "religious", and southern. Just imagine the shit I could get away with in this country. . .

Top military officials are admitting there were mistakes at the beginning of the Iraq war that may have resulted in the animosity Iraqis are directing towards America and American soldiers. Now, if we can just get Dubya to admit it. Oh, but wait . . . that would just ruin the effect of that dramatic Mission Accomplished statement made from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier. I remember the day oh so well. Picture this:
Good ole boy Dubya, big fat ass, cocky, grin on his face, standing proudly in front of the oh-so-fuckin'-obviously-p lanned banner that read "Mission Accomplished." The wind, whipping through his receding hairline. Proud men and women of the United States Navy flocked around their fearless leader. And Dubya, just beaming because he has great footage for his re-election campaign.
I'm sure I didn't recreate the event well enough to do it justice. If anybody else can do a rewrite, please feel free to do so. The best rewrite of the glorious event gets $10 via PayPal.
Where was I? Oh yeah . . . according to the article I just finished reading, the US military was basically raiding areas wearing a blindfold -- and killing a lot more civilians than was originally reported. It was this type of activity that may have contributed to the animosity Iraqis feel towards American troops. This, dear readers, is information received from top military officials who were actually there, on the front. Will we dare call them liberal idiots? Or, will we admit that the head of that outfit didn't have a damn clue what he was doing?
And just as the news surfaces that the US was haphazardly raiding places in Iraq wearing a blindfold and swinging a bat in a China shop, we learn there's a missing, un-named American held hostage by al-Qaida in Saudi Arabia. Wonder how Dubya will handle this situation so as not to ruin his business arrangements with those wealthy folks over in Saudi.
How dare I give a damn how many Iraqi civilians were killed when the US's safety is at stake? How dare I care when we have done the Iraqis a huge favor by ridding them of their horrendous leader. Well, because I don't believe in starting a war as an offensive or defensive measure. And, we didn't do the Iraqis any favors; we did the US and all our gas-guzzlin SUVs a favor.
No offense if you drive an SUV. I loved my Jeep Cherokee.
Yeah, yeah, yeah -- at least Dubya was doin' somethin'. I hear ya and I'm sick of hearin' that lame argument. If you're attempting to dry a wet floor with a wet mop, that's just damn stupid -- even if you are "doing something."

I bought this great tshirt today from shirtssogood.com. It will replace my "I Like Girls A Lot" tshirt I love wearing to the grocery store. I kinda wanna see who gets it the first time they see it, and who has to look twice and think about it for awhile.
So, Ray Charles died today. I'm sure I won't see his casket in newspaper clippings or on the news nearly as much as I saw Reagan's, but I will pay my respects nonetheless.
While Britain's results in the EU vote will not be clear until Sunday, the local vote showed a stinging backlash to Blair, whose popularity has slumped amid lingering doubts about his judgment and truthfulness.
We can expect the Ann Coulter Let's Bash Great Britain rants to start soon. She made a rather feeble attempt to disgrace the Italians when they decided to bump their Conservative leader who supported Dubya.
And Dubya's not doing too well either these days. The alleged papers which allegedly show that Dubya allegedly authorized excessive force (how's that for the Conservative readers?) will be hammered in the ground by the alleged liberal press. Dubya says, "Did not." His accusers say, "Did too."
Facing criticism for methods used to interrogate terrorism suspects held by the United States, President Bush insisted on Thursday he had always ordered questioning methods to remain within the law.
I don't know about the rest of ya'll (there's the southerner comin' out in me -- GA, not TX) but I am completely and utterly amused to see both Dubya and Blair's scrawny asses on the hot plate. They developed such annoying cocky grins during the beginning of the Iraq war. Did anyone else notice that? I haven't seen those grins in a while. Instead, they've been replaced by eyes full of panic. Those who plot together get royally screwed in the you-know-what together. It just never ends, does it? The prison torture issue will not go away -- no matter how much Dubya, his supporters, and his administration would like to see it disappear. At this point, I'm wondering how many papers are running stories on to "inform" and how many are doing it to sell papers.
It doesn't matter why, I suppose -- although Dubya supporters would say "you fuckin' liberal idiot, of course it matters why the liberal press is beating this issue to death," no pun intended. Never mind that the same liberal media bought into the whole weapons of mass destruction argument, consistently fed it to the public on a silver platter, and helped convince the American people to support the Iraq war to begin with. But, we won't go there. We're only allowed to bash the liberal media when it makes Dubya look bad. Besides, I'm digressing.
I read in the accused liberal press today that Ashcroft supposedly has his hand on a document that will prove there was a directive in 2002 that may have suggested troops use excessive force with Iraqi prisoners. It states:
Angry Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee called on Ashcroft to provide the document. They said portions that have appeared in news reports suggest the Bush administration is reinterpreting U.S. law and the Geneva Conventions prohibiting torture.
I can believe that. Dubya has this odd fascination with thinking he's above the law and deciding to change the law to fit what he believes. Those opinions are based on what I have noticed Dubya doing with his power as the President:
1. Deciding when/if he will release information to the public about what he knew pre 9/11
2. Having a closed, private meeting with the 9/11 panel in which the public will not have immediate access to his testimony like all the others who testified before the 9/11 panel
3. Deciding when he will cooperate with authorities on the Plame case. He's "willing" to cooperate. He doesn't feel obligated to cooperate
4. Passing laws that are blatantly unconstitutional because he doesn't believe in abortion
5. Attempting to write discrimination into the Constitution because he doesn't believe marriage is an entity that homosexuals should be allowed to partake in
Shall I go on? So, yeah, I can believe that there may be evidence to support that Dubya did indeed decide to change the rules a bit when it came to the Geneva Conventions. That's called, as they say on Blue's Clues, "putting on your thinking cap."
How anyone can describe Dubya as having morals is difficult for me to comprehend -- since I'm a member of the class of people who keeps gettin' screwed by his administration. And when you're not the one being screwed, your world is great and the man who makes it great has morals. (or he's convinced ya that he's your knight and will save you from the Jihad and weapons of mass destruction) Just because Dubya didn't bang his intern doesn't mean he's any more moral than Clinton. By the way, Clinton may be just as moral as Dubya. His administration did pass the Defense of Marriage Act which states that no state is obligated to recognize any homosexual civil union performed in another state. No, Clinton didn't write discrimination into the Constitution, but he certainly didn't bother to do us homos too many favors.
So, the Dubya Administration has more memos to hide. I can hardly keep up with all of them. This is a TV mini-series I would definitely watch. You know there's one comin'. It'll be called: DUBYA. That's it. Just: DUBYA. Wait, how about President Dubya?

Oscar Mayer has an auction going on eBay for a chance to win the infamous Wienermobile for 2 whole days. Can you imagine driving that thing to work? Or picking up a date in that thing? All the proceeds from the auction go to Big Brothers Big Sisters, so it's for a great cause. But, let's have a little fun with it for a moment.
After the slut topic, I can only imagine the responses to this question:
What would you do with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile for 2 whole days?

Ever had a girlfriend ya just can't let go of?
"If she's in love with somebody and that makes her happy, I'm happy for her," Combs tells "Access Hollywood" in an interview airing Monday night. "That's my girl for life." -- P. Diddy said of J. Lo's marriage to Marc Anthony
Why the world is obsessed with what J. Lo does is beyond me. Of course, the media is making a big fuss about this being her third marriage. My mother was married 5 times and nobody cared one iota. You should read what some of the women on message boards are saying about J. Lo. Which brings me to the subject of this blog. What's so wrong with enjoying your sexuality?
"J. Lo is a slut."
"J. Lo ain't nuttin' but a ho."
"J. Lo's been around everybody's block."
That's just a small sample of the kinds of comments I've seen posted about the woman.
On June 4, 2004, Dennis Quaid annouced he was getting married for the 3rd time. I've yet to see Dennis called a Playboy by any of the people who took the liberty to call J. Lo a "slut" or a "ho." And here's where I start my analysis. You knew it was coming, so hush up and drink your coffee.
Repressed sexual anxiety. See, I'm not sexually repressed. I don't have sexual anxiety. Because I'm not sexually repressed, I don't suffer from extreme jealousy, and I don't have the need to bitch about someone else's personal life, you won't see me worrying about how many blocks J. Lo has been around.
In addition, I'm not a fan of talk shows, daytime TV, or reality TV. Because of that, you won't see me engaging in that kind of chit chat about other people's sexual activity.
Also, I just don't give a damn. They're not having sex with me so why do I care who they're having sex with.
Now, the fact that these are women . . . well, that really doesn't surprise me because women are usually the worst critics of other women (in my experience). My Mama used to tell me that if you looked like shit, your man wouldn't say anything but another woman sure would. You can hear 'em whispering in the check out line at the grocery store, "Oh no she ain't outside lookin' like that." Can I get an "Amen!" from any of the female readers?
Ok, so I can hear the feminists amongst us readying their keyboard to respond with: men have trained women to police each other. That may be the case, but umm . . . women are getting pretty damn defiant these days. I think we can move that defiance on over to the "policing each other" category.
Oh, I forgot my question: are you a slut? If so, do you like it? If you like it, I love it.

...the world really is very small and we keep thinking we're big and significant...
I am always surprised to learn where people come from when they land on the SistersTalk blog. Because of the beauty of the Kalsey Consulting blog snob ads, you never really know what types of blog links will show up on your blog, or where your blog ad will show up. Sometimes, it can be very humorous -- like the time my blog showed up on a staunch Bush supporter's blog back when my description used to read Lesbian Poli-tickin' Off the Right. Now, it reads Pissin' Off Conservatives (or somethin' like that).
A few minutes ago, I checked my referral list at the bottom of the page, and I was curious about the link likethelanguage.mu.nu because it's not one I've seen before. And of course, it was another one of those "ouch" referrals: a Bush supporter. I think the headline Pissin' Off the Conservatives might have caught her attention. I read her blog and noticed it was very different from Ann Coulter's, yet they look a lot a like. It was kinda . . . strange. As a matter of fact, that DrinkThis woman looks like Ann, too. Remember her? Anyway, I found something in common with the writer of the Like the Language blog: her love for literature. Most people don't know that my undergrad degree is in Literary Studies with a focus on Creative Writing.
Oh, and there's the blog I found in my referral list (a repeat actually) in which I read that Ronald Reagan will always be remembered as the ketchup guy.
I do like reading blogs written by others -- even if I don't agree with a word of what they say -- especially when I know they landed on the SistersTalk blog without really looking for it. I've stopped writing those people to say hello because one girl completely flipped and emailed me ranting about politics as usual (and it was a long rant). You'd think I was trying to convince her to betray the Conservative party just because I said hello.
If you can, place the blogsnob ads on your blog. You'll really like seeing where people come from.
It was difficult for me to put my personal anti-war feelings aside and view the pictures from the soldier's perspective. If you are anti-war, anti-Dubya, anti-government, or what have you, just try to view the pictures as . . . "what if it were me?" -- if even just for a moment.

Just read the news that Ronald Reagan has died. I'm not quite sure why this is such a surprise since I knew he was getting up there in age and I was aware of his health problems.
We can expect to see documentaries, I suppose, in the coming months--but definitely not anything that tars his reputation. For some reason, Reagan has this untouchable thing about him. I'm still trying to figue out why.

So the RSS feed fiasco is fixed (what a whiney ass baby I can be, eh?). A nice gentleman at Live Journal found the error in my feed and told me how to fix it on my end. Pretty simple stuff -- fixed in less than 5 minutes.
I was pleased to see several referrals to the SistersTalk blog from pont_des_arts. It's a very beautiful blog, even though I can't read most of it. It's in Spanish. I've spoken with the writer (who does indeed speak English) and she's a delight to talk to.
It seems the French are just as cowardly as the Pro-Dubyas claimed they were. The French government plans to annul the first gay marriage performed in France. In addition, they will charge the Minister who performed the wedding with committing a crime. Looks like the French are right up there with Dubya on this issue. Perhaps Dubya supporters can go easier on the French for now on.

When I'm ticked, I rant. So here goes:
This is the 3rd time since I joined tblog that my RSS feed has malfunctioned (on this blog). I would search the archives to look for my rants on the subject but it's 2:30 am and I'm too damn tired. I received the response "I'm looking into that" (should I translate or does everyone who's received that kind of response already know what it means?). I think I read somewhere that Moveable Type will actually migrate your blog for you. If anyone has heard about that and knows more about it, I'd appreciate the information. If anybody actually knows how to do it, there's cash in it for ya -- payable via PayPal.
On to more important matters (imagine that). I completely missed the update on Dubya's decision to cooperate with the investigation into who blew Valerie Plame's cover. Dubya stated:
"I've told our administration that we'll fully cooperate with their investigation. I want to know the truth, and I'm willing to cooperate myself," he said.
He's willing to cooperate. Dontcha just love the way he put that? Not that he feels obligated to cooperate; he's willing to cooperate. Kinda like his willingness to cooperate with the 9/11 Panel (as long as his attorney was present). And yes, Dubya did state that he will consult his attorney to decide if he needs to keep him by his side during this "cooperation." Not a huge surprise, is it? Cheney has already met with prosecutors to discuss the Plame case, but he did not testify under oath. Sounds like they're not after Cheney.
I read another interesting story today, too. Due to some legal glitch, Dubya's name isn't supposed to be on the IL Presidential ballot in November. State officials claim they will make miracles happen and ensure that Dubya's name is indeed on the ballot.
Good news for Dubya: 248,000 new jobs were added to the economy in May. The bad news: it's a tad bit too late to really persuade voters that the momentum will continue and that Dubya will do everything to ensure it does. Personally, I'm not too sure Kerry can do much about it either.
Many people are doing what I did 2 years ago: joining the ranks of the self-employed. I don't suggest that anyone waits for the government to make things better (and this is where my Conservative side starts to show). As long as there's a single parent out there who works, there's always a need for a daycare provider. In-home daycares are low-cost startup businesses. As long as there are women who enjoy looking good, there's always a demand for beauticians. My great aunt worked from her kitchen for years making money as a "beautician." As long as there are single women who lack trust in auto mechanic shops, there will always be a need for the guy or girl in the neighborhood who knows how to perform basic car repairs for a great price. My father has been a handy-man (I won't bother being politically correct here) for 27 years. He raised 11 children off the income he earned doing odd jobs around town. And, letting you in on a little secret. . . my grandmother was a bootlegger for 30 years. She raised 13 kids and paid for a house by selling alcohol from her large kitchen. Yeah, it was illegal. But who cared when the County Sheriff was a crook.
It wasn't until some point when one particular generation in my family decided that welfare was better than starting your own in-home daycare center, doing hair from your kitchen, or driving around in a beat up truck doing repairs to some "white man's house" that pure laziness set in. Once the cycle started, it was like wildfire -- too damn hard to contain. Yes, I agree. It is difficult to make ends meet off the minimum income you earn from the creative self-employment I've mentioned. But, when you have no other employment, it's better than nothing.
I agree that those who have a better education will probably have better jobs making more money. And then, you can start tracing the whole issue of equal education back to god knows when, pulling it back to today's issue of Affirmative Action. That's where my left-like mentality takes over and I start ranting about the really shitty things this country has done to ruin a minority's chance to receive a good education. That's really not the point though because, right now, a lot of people are suffering economically -- even people with a Masters level college education. Even White people. Two of the professors at my small University just lost their jobs: both White Males with lots of education and experience on their resumes. White collar, White workers have seen their jobs sent to India at an alarming rate. There's no discrimination going on there!
By the year 2020, minorities will make up approximately 31% of the nation's workforce and women will make up 50%. No, women are not automatically considered minorities -- unless the woman is non-White. Changes are comin' and it probably scares the hell out of a few people. Much of the change is a result of population growth in minority groups (due to immigration) and non-ethnic groups having less children per household. It would be nice if we could attribute much of the change to a change in mentality, but that's not the case.
I was skipping around the blogosphere reading some of the Conservative blogs and my head started to spin. I tried to avoid the ones that focused on the coming Presidential election, and instead read some of the blogs that were about free speech and the like. One of the blogs was very disturbing because of the cult-like attachment to God. I say this because every argument in this Conservative blog had an argument based on some religious premise. It just sends chills down my spine to recognize the fierce righteousness some of these people have in insisting that they are right, their chosen religion is right, the way they have interpreted the Bible is right, and everyone else is just dumb, a liberal, or going to hell. I suppose if that makes people feel more secure in their seat on the bus to Heaven, then so be it. But, I do recall that Jesus did say we weren't supposed to judge others -- unless I misinterpreted that.
I saw a description of the SistersTalk blog on a website somewhere. It said: A radical, lesbian, leftist blog. The only thing they got right was the lesbian part.
Now, I have to get back to being a complete pain about my RSS feed -- again. It wouldn't have to be this way if my feed didn't mysteriously malfunction on a regular basis.
Now, as I recall there were male soliders who were just as guilty of this crime as Lynndie was. But, I've yet to see any of the men handled in the way Lynndie has been handled. Are we immune to the act of men sexually assaulting women? Have we become so desensitized to it that we don't even bother to react? We claim we aren't desensitized, right? I mean, to state that it's not "the American way" is to claim that we're not desensitized. Bush said that Americans don't do such things. If that's the case, then why is Lynndie the only one who's the butt of jokes here? Well, because Americans actually do such things. Americans do it so much that we don't even react anymore. We do react when an American female does it, because that is something we don't hear of very often.
So, America, we have a problem. We have many problems.
1. We have an issue of sexual assault in this country. If we didn't, we'd be a little more bothered by the men who sexually assaulted the women in the Iraqi prison.
2. We have an issue of sexism in this country. If we didn't, the Lynndie personal ad wouldn't pack quite the punch.
3. We have an issue of hypocrisy in this country. If we didn't, the Lynndie personal ad wouldn't even exist and Bush wouldn't have even made the statement he made, "It's not the American way" knowing damn well we have more than our share of sexual assault and rape cases.
As a sidenote: I apologize to those readers who haven't received any updates via Blogroll, your My Yahoo!, or any other services that require access to my RSS feed. It doesn't work -- again. I have made a very nice request to tblog (again) to get that working -- again.

This is very interesting:
Don King, the wild-haired boxing promoter, is touring the country with Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie to tout President Bush's re-election.
Don King always did do anything for publicity. This one is right up there. Or, maybe King really does feel that Dubya is the man to make things right for this country. As long as King stays out of trouble, Dubya's policies won't affect King too much.

Received today via email:
PPFA v. Ashcroft Marked by Attorney General's Sweeping Attempt to Seize Hundreds of Confidential Medical Records
June 1, 2004
The federal abortion ban passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush last year is unconstitutional and cannot be enforced, Federal District Court Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton ruled today. The ban, challenged in Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) v. Ashcroft, could have outlawed abortions as early as 12 to 15 weeks in pregnancy, including those that doctors say are safe and among the best to protect women's health. PPFA hailed the ruling and questioned the Bush administration's efforts to enforce the blatantly unconstitutional ban.
Perhaps the extreme measures to which the Bush Administration was willing to go to demand that women and doctors do things their way was the straw that broke the camel's back. Demanding to see a woman's medical records because you suspect she may have had an abortion is taking it just a bit too damn far.
So, it's nice to see that even Dubya can't reach into a woman's medical records.

I saw this headline when I logged in and I just had to comment. You know me--can't keep me quiet for too long: "Lefties furious at Limbaugh's success, want him removed from Armed Forces Radio"
I read that headline again. And again. And then I laughed. It's the lefties who are quite active in keeping Rush's fat ass out of jail so he can keep spewing that damn garbage. So back that shit up and take a breather, dear.
As I recall, the American Civil Liberties Union (who are not Conservative at all and who Rush has bashed many, many times on his show) have worked side by side with Rush's legal team to protect Rush's right to privacy. Yes, even Rush's right. As I recall, the American Civil Liberties Union is somewhat left, by definition, and definitely not "Right".
So, Limbaugh learned not a damn thing. He certainly didn't learn compassion. This is the man who was a blatant hypocrite about drug users (particularly white drug users, calling for more white drug users to face jail time) while sending his damn maid out to hook him up. When all hell broke loose, the lefties didn't treat Rush any differently than they would have treated anybody else. It's called sympathy. Empathy. Even for Rush Limbaugh. Now, you can call that a "liberal attitude" all you want, as Limbaugh often has and his ditto heads have mindlessly agreed.
So, no. The lefties don't give a good gawd damn about Rush's success. On the contrary. It's quite sickening to see the likes of jackasses like Rush who do nothing more than say what you want to hear. Obviously, we know for a fact that at least one topic he spewed his guts about was not out of sincerity. It was drenched in pure and simple hypocrisy. So, what else does he say just because YOU want to hear it, you can't say it yourself, it gets him ratings, and his bank account balance increases signficantly?
That's a typical Conservative attribute actually. Walking with the flow of things -- never against the current. Saying what the majority agrees with. Behaving the way the majority wants you to behave. Hiding your dirty secrets from the world, because after all, you do have to make people believe you're better than the liberals -- or at least, better than somebody. It's a sad existence to live, if you ask me. Always lying about who you are because you need to maintain your label of "Conservative." Rush did it. He lied.
So now, Limbaugh wants to minimize the prison abuse issue (damn, I hate using that word. It was sadistic torture). Well, did we really expect any better? It's Rush Limbaugh. He has no problem biting the left hand that's keeping his fat ass out of jail. It gets him ratings. The advertisers love ratings. And Rush gets paid.
